Restaurant Maria — Restaurant in Katerini Municipality

I've come in Paralia Katerini many times in the last 5 years, either for holiday or for work. I have tried many restaurants in the area but, honestly, although I've had some good meals elsewhere as well, I always returned to Restaurant Maria. Why? Simply because the food is indeed delicious! Prices are more than fair, the portions are huge (dont 't come if you are on a diet 🤣 consider sharing the meals) and the atmosphere is very chill. I love the fact it' s not situated on the main street so the location itself is more breathable. Don't get me wrong, most of the times the restaurant is crowded and I often had to wait for a table but that's normal in high season. One should be reasonable in this matter. The restaurant design is simple, clean and functional. The service was always as fast as possible (when the restaurant is full, the waiting time is longer but, drinks usually come very fast so, in my opinion, they manage things quite well during rush hours). The menu is a a very nice combination of traditional Greek food and Romanian dishes (the Romanian soups are incredibile). The reason I'm writting this review is because I know this restaurant (which is actually a family bussines) for many years now and I truly appreciate their constancy - I know how hard is to have a family bussines. In short, if you like fine dining in fancy Instagram like restaurants - this is not the place for you. But if you look for a cosy place with tasteful, home made food, come and enjoy the flavours! This place is about FOOD...

Made a reservation for 11 people at 9 pm. Arrived there and a girl at the door said you don't have reservation for 11 people, you have for 9....We talked 5 hours ago in person, we said 11 people, 9 pm. After again making us liars, and we didn't say 11, we said... OK, we can't agree, we will stay 11 at the table, we will manage. The girl replied that we can't, we don't have chairs.......so the restaurant doesn't have two spare chairs......says a lot. Then her mother came..... What is the problem? We made this afternoon a reservation at 9 pm for 11 people. Her daughter again... No you didn't. And the owner with a superior annoyed voice : I believe my daughter......you didn't say 11. Guess incompetence runs in the family. Oy reason this has 4.7 stars is that it is Romanian owned and 80% of tourists there are Romanians. If you value quality services avoid this place. So they didn't say it was a misunderstanding, it happens, let's solve it.... No, you lie, it's not true. That's is just because people allow them, especially Românians who like to pay money for trash services. Just like they do with the Romanian seaside that is more exoensive than Sardinia. So.... Just avoid the fake Romanian,, patriotic" good reviews, incompetence and arrogance rule this place. You can see that 99% of 5 stars are Romanian...

Dear mediocre ones, When you are not a 10, you cannot offer a 10. The mean comments show that no one has ever eaten at Maria's. Because those who have actually eaten can provide details, as was given above, 3-4 stars, of course. For the rest, the RUTHFUL, the ENVIOUS, the MEDIOC, will not be able to understand the passion offered by the restaurant staff. You can't handle the flow of lustful people when you don't have passion. Of course, the food being so good, filling and satisfying, with a taste of childhood, is offered with time, patience and passion. There are 80 seats inside and outside the hall and only 4-5 people providing service, clearing up, and drinks. So, dear ones, be patient and understanding if you want to be SATISFIED in the end!
