Anemos cafe — Restaurant in Kythnos Municipality

"If you want hospitality, go to a hotel" "If you want to eat food, go next door to a restaurant" - the owner of the cafe

This was by far the worst customer experience I have had in Greece. The owner is a disgruntled and unbothered man who takes pride in yelling at his customers and being an extremely arrogant individual. Antonis seemed like a kind old man at first who runs on island time, but after two hours waiting for a simple eggs and bacon plate I have to concede that this is not the case. Our coffees were served with little delay, as were the coffees of the entire shop and the new patrons who came an hour after us. "Are you guys hungry?" he said jokingly after an hour, smugly dismissing our nods. A while after this, he told us that our order had not even been sent to the kitchen yet. With full confidence in his staff, he said "she doesn't even know what she's doing" about the woman cooking, and said jokingly we could expect to wait another hour and a half or two. For eggs and bacon, nothing else. When the eggs eventually came, the bacon was undercooked and they refused to do anything about it, saying that they were too busy and the kitchen is very chaotic. We also learned that the entire shop had only three eggs, which was not even enough for the two orders we had placed. When we asked to cook the bacon for two minutes longer, we were chastised, yelled at and threatened. The owner did not offer any apology for the delay, saying that bad customers don't deserve any apology and that he has had this establishment for 22 years and he knows what he is doing. He said this is a cafe, not a restaurant...although the front page of their menu is full of breakfast items like omelettes, eggs, and more. He threatened to start a fight, saying we were very close to throwing fists. I can not in good faith recommend that anyone visit this cafe, neither for breakfast nor for an expensive coffee (€4?!). I do not wish to support businesses that insult, degrade, and treat customers so poorly. With the way Antonis spoke to and treated us, I felt as if I should get on the next boat and leave the island. Not the best first impression! Avoid this place...

Αγενέστατοι οι ιδιοκτήτες! Απαίσια εξυπηρέτηση... Κρίμα με το που πατάς το πόδι σου στο νησί να συναντάς τέτοια αντιμετώπιση! Ενώ όπου και αν πήγαμε ήταν όλοι ευγενέστατοι. Τη πρώτη φορά έκατσα για ένα γρήγορο καφέ μέχρι να παραλάβει η φίλη μου το μηχανάκι που νοικιάσαμε. Τη δεύτερη και φαρμακερη θα πηγαίναμε κολώνα με τα καραβάκια που φεύγουν ακριβώς μπροστά από το μαγαζί. Είχε 2 τραπέζια με κόσμο και στο τελευταίο τραπέζι του μαγαζιού μέσα στον ήλιο ακούμπησαμε τα κράνη για να μη τα χούμε και αυτά για τα 10 λεπτά αναμονής. Έκανα το τραγικό λάθος να πάω προς τη σκιά και να κάτσω στο μπράτσο μιας καρέκλας καθώς η ζέστη ήταν ανυπόφορη. Το τι ακολούθησε δε λέγεται... Δε με πλησίασε καν ο ιδιοκτήτης να με ρωτήσει αν θέλω κάτι απλά φώναξε από την άλλη άκρη του μαγαζιού "κοπελιά θα πάρεις κάτι?" Απαντάω όχι και μου λέει "Ναι αλλά κάθεσαι στο μαγαζί μου και μάλιστα στο μπράτσο της καρέκλας, έλεος κοπέλα μου." Του ζητάω συγνώμη και του λέω "απλά κάθησα λίγο γιατί η ζέστη ειναι ανυπόφορη και θα σηκωθώ αμέσως, αν υπάρχει πρόβλημα βέβαια να πάρω κατι" και άρχισε να μιλάει μόνος του και να με διαολοστέλνει. Παίρνω τα πράγματα και φεύγω κακήν κακός. Πάνω απ' όλα ας...

Ακριβώς μπροστά από το μαγαζί είναι το καραβάκι που πηγαίνει στην Κολώνα. 2 λεπτά πριν έρθει το καραβάκι επειδή είχε πάρα πολύ ήλιο πήγαμε 3 φίλες όρθιες στην άκρη της καφετέριας που είχε λίγο ίσκιο χωρίς να υπάρχει καθόλου κόσμος εκεί και τα τραπέζια άδεια και έρχεται ένας κύριος και μας λέει: "κορίτσια τι θέλετε εδώ? Δεν ξέρω αν έχετε καταλάβει ότι εδώ είναι μαγαζί" είχαμε σκοπό να πάμε να πάρουμε νερό και καφέ αλλά εννοείται πως δεν πήραμε και ο τρόπος ήταν...
