ΝΗΡΙΚΟΣ, ΕΣΤΙΑΤΟΡΙΟ-ΠΙΤΣΑΡΙΑ, ΜΕΝΕΛΑΟΣ ΖΑΚΥΝΘΙΝΟΣ — Restaurant in Lefkada Municipality

We visited Nirikos Restaurant with high expectations, especially after reading multiple positive comments about their famous seafood platter. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the hype.

To begin with, the restaurant doesn't actually feature seafood in its regular menu, which was a surprise. Upon asking, we were told they could offer a seafood plate — but what we received was quite different from what we had seen in the pictures and reviews. There was no tuna as described; although we were told another fish fillet would be included, it never came. The plate consisted only of three fried whole fish, shrimp, and fried calamari — no grilled options, no fillet, and everything deep-fried. The portion was generous and easily enough for two people, but the heavy frying took away from the seafood flavor.

We also ordered the moussaka, which looked more like a beef stew than the classic layered dish. While it was tasty, the presentation was messy and not very appealing.

On a positive note, the homemade bread and Greek salad were both enjoyable and fresh. However, overall, we found the restaurant overrated — the food is not bad, but certainly not special enough to justify the price or the praise it...

I visited this restaurant with a friend who ordered a Caesar salad. The portion was very small, with an extremely tiny amount of chicken, and it didn’t even have the traditional anchovy dressing that a Caesar salad usually comes with. We called the waiters to explain the situation, and they brought another salad with just a few extra pieces of chicken, still without proper dressing or croutons.

To make matters worse, at the end they added an extra €1 charge on the bill for this so-called “addition” of chicken. On top of that, they tried to slip in about €3 more on the check, and when we asked for an explanation, they became aggressive and started yelling at us.

They also don’t accept card payments at all – clearly just an excuse to avoid paying card transaction fees.

We had an absolutely fantastic culinary experience! Stratos recommended the best fish we’ve ever had in Lefkada – gofari, freshly caught just one hour before being served. The taste was incredible, and the freshness was truly outstanding. Besides that, we ordered several other dishes from the menu, all of them exceptional, including the lamb chops, which were perfectly cooked – tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The desserts were also sensational and completed the meal beautifully. The service was impeccable – one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. Stratos’s recommendations were remarkable and helped us choose the perfect dishes.
