This place sets a new bar for the meaning of organic food. It is rare and unique, so I took the time to write and elaborate. "Dimitri's factory. No pharmacy" is the motto of this third-generation establishment. "We don't believe in chemicals, pesticides, or farm-grown fish," says the owner. Growing crops, raising chickens, and fishing are part of this ecosystem, which has been running for 51 years and counting. The entrance to the restaurant is via a small road. Accessing the premises by foot, you can witness "Dimitri's factory" on your right. As an organic enthusiast who is in constant pursuit of the healthiest grown foods around the globe, this is the first time that I have seen crops surrounded by flowers, trees, and beauty. These amplify the meaning of nurture.
The salad does not come with a dressing, nor are the grilled vegetables or anything else seasoned. There is no need. This is real food, authentic, primal, proper, at its highest quality. When you choose this place, I suggest that you stop and take a beat to look at "Dimitri's Factory," maybe even choose your lettuce. The experience of this rare place is in its rudimentary food, the way we long for it to be. To top it all, it is located right on the water with astonishing views. This is a "no brainer" choice...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but this place really earned it. From the moment we arrived, the service was shockingly bad. We waited over 20 minutes just to place our order, and every time we tried to get a waiter’s attention, all we got was, “one minute, one minute” , which turned into twenty. Nobody seemed to care, despite the restaurant not even being busy.
When the food finally arrived, it was completely underwhelming and definitely overpriced for what it was. To make things worse, the wine was advertised as 500ml, but we were definitely given less , maybe around 400ml at best.
Even trying to pay was a struggle. We waited again for ages just to settle the bill, with staff continuing to ignore us. It was honestly one of the worst service experiences I’ve had anywhere.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, the parking situation was the final insult. The road in and out is in terrible condition , your car will scrape underneath, and it’s particularly bad for rental cars, which most tourists are using. It’s honestly not worth the risk or the damage.
Save your money, time, and car , there are plenty of better...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to stay at a property literally a few steps from Dimitris’ restaurant. We dined a few occasions at the taverna. The location is fantastic and overlooks a bay which has boats and yachts moored. Firstly the food is really good. They have a varied menu and we loved everything we ate. I cannot choose any one thing as all the food is great. The food is good value for money. The staff were lovely and we would get a friendly hello as they walked pass to work if we happened to be sitting outside our rented property the Sea house. I would also like to mention that they arranged taxis for my wife and nieces to go to our daughters wedding and arrange later that day for a taxi for me to go to where my daughter was staying so we could go to her wedding. So helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and it made life so much easier for us that day. So for good food, a brilliant location which can reach by car or by boat and friendly people there is not a better place....
