Poseidon Bay — Restaurant in Lefkada Municipality

We were 5 people. Food and price were good. Service was one of the worst I ever had:

1. We ordered some bread and dips (tzatziki) as starters, and they arrived more than 20 minutes after we ordered, with 4 pieces of bread and wrong water (we ordered sparkling and it was still). Ok no big problem.
2. after another 30 minutes arrived the mains, all except for mine. After 10 minutes the waiter came back and asked me what I had as a main (sea bream), and he said it would take another 10 minutes. The sea bream arrived half an hour after the other mains, everybody else already finished eating. Ok, bad service nights happen.
3. During the whole dinner they never came to take away the dirty dishes, which piled up on the table leaving no space for eating. Ok, we could still eat well.
4. When we tried complaining and said “usually if something like this happens the dish would not be on the bill”, they told us “what?? You ate! You want free food?!”. Ok, we could have not pointed it out, our mistake.
5. We asked for the bill and they brought us a bill with one more main dish we never ordered (we were 5, the main dishes were 6, one more 20€ dish). When we let the waiter notice he insisted on being right, and when he brought back the new, corrected, bill he told me “here I printed it bigger so you understand, now pay!”… he took down the wrong dish and never admitted to being wrong (let’s hope everything was not made on purpose since the bill was in Greek and none of us spoke Greek). Ok, mistakes happen.

All these things can happen to a restaurant, maybe it’s a little bit unusual all together, but they can happen. The main problem was that the waiter has been very rude the whole time, and never, not even once, anybody told us “we’re sorry for the inconvenience”. Everything is more weird considering also that the table besides ours, with local people eating, was treated with big smiles and courtesy. It’s the first time something like this happens to me in Greece, it’s nothing like the traditional “direct” Greek hospitality approach, which can be a little strong, but it’s part of the culture and makes you feel welcomed and well. It was undoubtedly just awful manners and almost like we were bothering them, making us feel very uncomfortable...

My family of four from Toronto, Canada recently had the pleasure of dining at Poseidon Bay Restaurant in Vasiliki, Greece, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. This restaurant boasts the best location in the entire village, offering a breathtaking view of the port and ample space for each table to bask in the beauty of the surroundings.

Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, a common trait of Vasiliki's excellent service. However, the team at Poseidon, led by Manolo and Jorgo, took hospitality to a whole new level. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel right at home, creating a delightful atmosphere for our dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the food – a highlight that left us raving about Poseidon Bay. Greece is known for its fresh ingredients and delectable cuisine, but Poseidon takes it a step further. Surprisingly, even my teenage boys were thoroughly impressed with the food. Their hearty appetites were well-satisfied by the generous portions, and they found themselves relishing the delectable Greek dishes, a testament to the restaurant's broad appeal.

Beyond the sumptuous food and exceptional service, Poseidon Bay Restaurant also sets the stage for a romantic dining experience. The enchanting ambiance and mesmerizing view create the perfect backdrop for a memorable night or a special celebration.

We visited Poseidon Bay Restaurant more than once during our stay and each time was an absolute delight. Whether you're a family looking for a culinary adventure, a couple seeking a romantic evening, or simply someone who appreciates excellent food and welcoming service, Poseidon Bay is the place to be. This gem in Vasiliki has won our hearts, and we hope to return someday to indulge in their culinary...

The one star is fully for the service. The food overall was quite good but it was the worst restaurant service I've ever had. I accept if a restaurant has a bad night, that happens, but it's how you respond that makes the difference. And they were terrible. We got there around 9.30pm and some customers were starting to leave. We waited about 20 minutes to receive the bread and the dips. We asked for some more bread and the waiter said they didn't have it, then we saw him taking bread to another table 5 minutes later. It took another 30 minutes to receive 4 out of 5 mains, it was around 10.30pm. One octopus dish was cold. We started eating and the waiter said that the last main would be another 10 minutes. We finished our mains and the last main hadn't arrived yet. My friend got his main around 11pm. The waiter dropped it without even an apology. He kept passing by our table, looking at our empty dishes and not taking them, while he took all the dirty dishes from the table next to us who were locals. We asked for the bill, which arrived promptly. I told the waiter that in our opinion we should have not paid for the last main as it was so late to ruin our experience. His response was that we ate that and did we want free food? At that point, while the bill was in Greek, my friend noticed that there were 6 high value items on the bill but we only ordered 5 mains. They tried to dismiss that but then went to check their system, reprinted the bill and came back. The waiter read the bill again without wanting to show it to us, my friend had to basically take it from him and saw that it had changed from 6 to 5 mains. He tried to get confirmation that they had made a mistake but the waiter didn't want to admit it. At that point, he got the bill back from my friend, dropped it on the table and said "now pay".
