We were greeted at once when we came to look at the meny, the staff was very polite and friendly.
Ordering the food was quick but here's were the problems started. We were three persons ordering, and only two of us got our food, the food was warm so we started eating expecting the third person to receive his food before we was finished. They never arrived with his food, so we had to ask the waiter where the food and drinks was. The waiter seemed suddenly stressed and ten minutes later he got his food and drinks.
The food we got first was very good and tasty, it looked good and had good mouthfeel. It was delicious, and would have gotten 5 stars from us if not for what happened next.
After the meal when we wanted to pay, our waiter retrieved another person, I suspect that this was the manager and we expected him to apologise for the inconvenience with the delay in food and the misunderstanding.
Thats not what happened at all, my friend tried politely to say that he was unhappy with the service the man joked and cut him off, he tried again to say that he wanted some kind of compensation for the misunderstanding but the man just ignored us. Then said the total of our bill, we asked to see the receipt just to see that we didn't pay for more than we ordered. He wasn't happy about this but he got the receipt and came back with a bankterminal.
Then he puts in the total and asks us how much we want to tip "his children" it got really uncomfortable, we said we weren't happy with the service and didn't want to tip, he then proceeds to guilt trip us and nag about tip, "it's very normal to leave a tip when your happy with the service" and "Everyone tips in Greece" (we haven't been asked even once for tips these last 21 restaurant visits we've had this trip) again we told him no, we won't tip, then he angrily gave us the terminal and went away. We got some watermelons and left.
The man was very pushy and this wasn't a good experience as a tourist. So because of this this restaurant went from 5 to 2 stars in our eyes. The food was the only thing that saved them because it was really good.
In my honest opinion, the man that nagged us about tips shouldn't be in direct contact with the customers. We won't go back.
Edit : Someone flagged my comment to be offensively written, so Google took it down, I didn't see this and I don't even know if the restaurant is still here. But unless they have gotten a new manager...
Read moreCarefully check your bill. You might find some "mistakes" in the final bill. Most probably, these "mistakes" will not be in your favour. You might find out that the price of certain plates had gone up during your stay... You may also find out that different manues have different prices for the same plate. I gave the taverna a good score since the food was fine, the service was rrasonable and the view and atmosphere is great. So I hope the Faedra hotel management that operates the taverna will put an end to these "mistakes". Most of the plates are already over priced so uprising the total bill even further is...
Read moreVery nice environment and polite stuff but the food was, badly cooked, utasty and super expensive. 12 euros for a piece of (pre-made?) mousaka and 10 euros for a chicken souvlaki. The fried potatoes were uncooked, the cheese of the salad was not feta, but some random cheap white cheese and the mousaka was full of cinnamon and spices to cover the bad quality of the ingredients. We paid 45 euros for a salad, two main dishes and 2 beers. These are Northern...
