I had a disgusting experience with an employee that had the audacity to lie me in the face (the curly hair woman) assuming that we don't undersrand Greek. She came to charge us 20E for the sunbeds, asked us where we are from and she spoke to us in Romanian. I ordered a coffee without milk and sugar. She then was so intrusive and tried to convince me that I don't have to drink my coffee without sugar and milk, because there are better options like cappuccino, and asked me if I ever tried freddo espresso before because it's strong. I told her yes, that's what I want, and that I can't have lactose, and if she had any vegan options it would be fine, if not, plain it's okay. She then said that she would give a call to ask if they had any vegan milk option. She called her colleague, spoke to him in a broken greek and asked him directly to make exactly what we ordered. Then she hang up and told us "no, we don't have, I just wanted to ask, I tried at least.." I told her that I understood everythink she said because I know Greek as well, and she did't even mentioned it. Disgusting & embarassing. Then she asked us if we need wifi, told us the password but "do not give it to any of these nearby" - like we came there to randomly approach strangers and offer wifi pass lol. The coffee was still weak. Then I went to the toilet and the staff was totally unfriendly when I asked where it is. Thinking that I paid 27E for two sunbeds and 2 coffees, I should have been considered a customer, right? Moreover, we were going to eat there as well, but they don't serve the food on the beach. Overall a bad experience, would not reccomend. After all these attitudes we luckily tried the nearby taverna. Although it does look old and not fancy at all, the staff is great, friendly, the food is fresh and delicios and the prices are...
Read moreTwo weeks on Crete and this tavern has been the best of all. I really liked how Anna and her family created a calm and relaxing space in the garden of the tavern - and great view on the sea - and serve freshly made Greek food. The dishes are Greek but different from the typical other dishes you get at most other places here. Dishes are quite simple … a few, high quality and local ingredients … therefore very delicious. I hope to return :))
The garden tavern also offers sunbeds and umbrellas at the beach. The beach and the water are very clean and beautiful. We paid 25 euros for two beds + one umbrella for the whole day. Totally worth it.
Just be aware that the road to Skinaria beach goes along a cliff and is rather narrow. The tavern closes at 6 pm (and the kitchen 5 pm). Be careful to follow the sign „garden tavern“ as there is a second tavern in...
Read moreTasty food, great service, nice people and clean toilet. We choose to dine in here despite the unfavorable reviews and we had a great experiece. The daily menu is written on a black board because it changes every day depending on the disponibility of the fresh incrediends at the locals fishermen and farmers. They never use frozen incredients and I couldn't respect that more. The best handmade icecream on the island, made with local goat milk The service was fast and the personnel was nice to us and with our children The place is modern decorated and has new furniture Beautiful landscape with trees, natural flowers and shrubs The toilet was clean and had soap and...
