I visited in winter, so there were very few options in the village to choose from. A local had told me I shouldn't go here because it wasn't very good. Nonsense, it was fine. I was the only person in that night and I was given all the attention. The cook served me bread and emphasized that she had baked it herself, and then asked whether I would like her to toast the bread for me with some olive oil and oregano. The house cat climbed onto my lap and sat on me as I waited for my meal. The food tasted very homelike - nothing special, but you could tell they had made it with love. The owners chatted with me and complimented my Greek. A complimentary sweet was served with the bill. If you visit Agistri, you have to have a meal at Κονάκι εν Αγκιστρίω. The food is incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious.

As vegetarians, we were delighted by how accommodating they were, offering us a variety of flavorful dishes. But this place is more than just great food—the entire dining experience is special. Christos and his family welcomed us with true Greek hospitality, making us feel like we were visiting a home rather than a restaurant. They even shared lemons from their backyard and their homemade balsamic vinegar, adding a personal touch to an already wonderful meal.

On top of that, the prices are very reasonable, making this a must-visit spot.

We had such a delicious and lovely dinner here last night, we came straight back the tonight, no hesitation, and would have come again (there was going to be live music!) But tonight was our last on the island. Traditional taverna menu, but all done exactly as I remembered from my childhood in Greece in the 70s, from hortopitakia through home cut chips to free watermelon with the bill, plus some surprises along the way.
