Sun Kiss — Restaurant in Municipality of Apokoronas

Best casual beach bar around! We have now visited Crete twice and this is our go to beach bar. For those new to the concept, basically there are palapas / umbrellas with lounge chairs. At Sun Kiss, they're free when you buy your food and drink from the bar. Otherwise you can, I believe, pay a small rental fee and bring your own sustenance.

But I highly recommend using their food and drink services since it's just a lot of fun to sit in the sandy, shady tavern area and have a delightful meal. The food, especially the grilled meats, is great and they have a surprisingly large set of offerings - most anyone can get something they like here. The drink offerings are also comprehensive and include things like fruit smoothies, milk shakes and so forth.

This is a great place for small children as there is a quaint play area and ample shade. Conveniently the life guard is also very close to this location.

Fab place ! You get a free subbed if you spend enough on drink/ food. Both drinks and food are delicious ( we particularly loved Greek salad which was excellent value for money). Beer 4 euro , cocktails 7.5 euro. The staff is super friendly and service is quick so don’t be discouraged by some reviews stating otherwise ( yes - it is true that owner will charge you for subbed if you only buy water but that’s fair and reasonable considering that all other places charge between 5-7 euro for sunbed alone) . To note - the beach is amazing but is located by the river so you get a mixture of hot and cold water when swimming. We enjoyed it but you can always walk 5m before the river adjoining to have pure warm sea water.

Overall - fab experience!

Side note - At first we went to Mike’s oasis next door being encouraged by positive reviews - it was a scam and we ended up paying 7euro...

we parked in a public area away from the bar and an old man was running after us to mention that the parking is belonging to the bar, however we had to stay in the bar an take sunbeds! Very rude attitude and behaviour the way he expressed! We called him twice to give us a third sunbed and he said to carry it on our own, while he sat next to us to get paid as he was tired! No receipt OF COURSE!!!!!!! He explained to us what we could have if we would pay the sunbeds, like free drinks. Coffee, fresh juice, beer. Finally the beer was only small size, the coffee wasn't free. Really rude behaviour and unprofessional for a touristic area. Avoid it if you can, there are better bars a little...
