Melina's Taverna Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Argos and Mykines

Normally I don’t write reviews, especially if it’s for well known places. We drove by this restaurant while on our way to a ruin which was near. After finishing the tour, it was around lunch time and we decided to go to this restaurant, upon arriving we were welcomed by the owner and prepared a table for the six of us. His English was very poor but even with the language barrier we had, he still managed to entertain us and make us laugh at his jokes. Very friendly person and the cook turned out to be his wife, she was very friendly as well. The food turned out good and even the pasta which has nothing to do with the culture (I think) also turned out to be really good. The price in my opinion based on my countries average pricing was great, not expensive at all especially for a family of 6. The rations of the food were almost more than enough, and I would like to say that you will not leave the restaurant dissatisfied. Very generous family and even gave us grapefruit and oranges from his trees, with it he also gave us a whole plate of ice cream with brownie on the house. We arrived at the restaurant after a long day and were probably the last guests of them after a long day. But this is no excuse for the food we had and the services we received, particularly since the restaurant is rated so highly on Google Maps.

We ordered the lamb with yogurt sauce and chicken on pasta as the waiter recommended. The food came up lukewarm and suspiciously like merely precooked dishes reheated. But that is not the big problem. The lamb was tender but much too salty, too salty to taste anything else. The chicken was on the other hand very bland. The fries were limp and soggy. If we had more energy we would have sent the dish back to the kitchen. But as I said it was the end of a long day.

The service was perfunctory and indifferent. When we arrived there was food on tables all around. We could understand that this is low season and we were the last customers (it was only 5 pm though).

Drove past this restaurant and saw they were busy compared to the other places in town so we stopped in . They have both outside seating as well as inside . Turns out the sweet lady that took our order is also the chef . I ordered the pork tenderloin and Mediterranean salad . Both were absolutely delicious ! My wife had the spaghetti bolognese . It was delicious as well ! The gentleman that really ended up waiting on us was funny and attentive . This was by far the best meal we have had so far in the 3 weeks we have been in Europe . This place is cheaper and better than all the other restaurants we ate at in Spain , Portugal and our favorite in Greece . The combination of delicious food , fantastic service from people with fantastic attitudes and personalities will be a hit for anyone stopping by . Don’t skip the ice cream ! It was to die for !
