Spent a lot of time at this establishment during our stay at the island in 2020 and 2022, and noticed a drastic decline in quality when we revisited in June 2023
Prices have increased by ~50% (eg. greek yogurt was 4.50€ in 2020, 5€ in 2022, and is now 7.5€, crêpes almost doubled in price…). Most other establishments along the beach have similar or only slightly higher prices compared to 2022
Food quality has also suffered: cheese pies were very obviously microwaved and the crêpes were stone cold in the middle
Service was very poor, spoke almost no English, and the delivery of our order was completely uncoordinated. Honey was not brought with the cheese pies as stated in the menu
Atmosphere is also sub par compared to last year. Apart from the restaurant being almost empty, the music is also obnoxiously loud. It may only be the start of the season, but other similar establishments on the same beach are at least half full throughout the day
We had no issue using their sun-beds last year and in 2020, as we were continuously making consumption at the bar. This year, something seems to have changed as the sun-beds are now 15€ (even for paying customers), which probably explains why their sun-beds are empty the entire day. There are much comfier and cheaper sun-beds further along the beach.
I would suggest taking your business elsewhere, shame to see such a good place (that I had previously reviewed 5 stars)...
Read moreAn absolute hidden gem on Astypalea! Café Allegro at Livadi Beach combines a perfect beachfront location with incredibly warm and welcoming service. We especially want to highlight Maria (Beach Service), who takes care of the guests with so much charm and attention – always friendly and always there when you need her. Also, Nicole in the restaurant deserves special mention for her genuine kindness and professional service that makes every visit a pleasure.
The food is excellent – fresh, delicious, and prepared with great care. Prices are absolutely fair, even for the sunbeds, drinks, and the outstanding beach service. You won’t find “tourist prices” here, but honest quality and hospitality that enhance the holiday experience even more.
The beach area is beautifully set up with comfortable sunbeds, large umbrellas providing perfect shade, and quick, uncomplicated service directly to your spot. It’s a place where you can easily spend an entire day relaxing and enjoying.
The neighboring restaurants surely look inviting too, but we didn’t feel the need to go anywhere else – we were so impressed with Allegro from the start. The whole atmosphere at Livadi Beach is a real highlight for anyone’s holiday.
Everyone visiting this island should definitely plan a stop at Livadi Beach – for us, it was one of the most beautiful spots on all...

Service with a smile. A few drinks, a couple of sun beds, an umbrella ☔ and table for a lot less than €20 plus a couple of ice slush type drinks, mango and strawberry 🍓. Watch out for the brain freeze 👀.
The sea is beautiful, no waves and crisp blue water. Lovely.
Several shops along the sea front selling the usual beach 🏖 products for the whole family including that all important sun lotion, with prices starting at around €10.
No problem with parking either, although in mid summer it didn't look like it would be so easy. But there is a bus service from Chora to Livadi so there's ways the 🚍 as...
