Very disappointed. The website is great but the reality doesn’t match. Food menu is extensive but my pastitso was ordinary and more pasta than meat and bechamel sauce. Service was slow and distracted. Small plastic bucket of turtles and sad parrot in a cage were distressing features of the restaurant. There are better places to eat in Livadi eg Astopelos
This second part of my review is in response to the owner’s comment. The restaurant Astopelos DID NOT ask me to write this review. I have been staying at Mouras Maisonnettes (which I highly recommend) for four nights so have eaten at many restaurants in Livadi during that time. Astopelos was the best and Gerani the worst.
My comments about the pastitso. I make my own pastitso and know what a good one is. The Gerani pastitso was mainly pasta, a very thin layer of bechamel sauce and very little meat.
Your website is fantastic but please make sure your restaurant, its food and service is the...
Read moreNor surprised, neither impressed, or disappointed. If I had to describe the place in one sentence: something cheap and decent, but that's as far as it goes.
Prices were reasonable, relatively cheap actually.
Food quality was mediocre. They need to try more on this field. Especially for Greeks, who are used to that food and they have much to compare it to.
The little goat was tasty but it was mainly bones and fat, not enough meat in the end. The sauce was drowning the fries making them soggy, not crispy anymore. The stuffed vegetables were quite good. The choriatiki salad portion was good but mainly dominated by cucumber. Some more care is needed.
Service was just ok. Nothing to say about the atmosphere, it's a regular taverna. In the end, the main reason to come back to places like this is mainly the food, but I was not convinced. However, it's a good option if you want...
Read moreWooow what a place! This is a real Greek taverna with grandma food and that is all you need to know to come here. Do not miss if you are on the island! It's so rare that you can find food like this somewhere today. Everything is really homemade, local and fresh, starting with the bread! I think this grandma has the best recipes 😂 I don't know which dish is tastier. Their moussaka is served in a small pot and takes you back to the childhood. The tuna was perfectly seasoned and prepared. I recommend you to try the ravioli with local chlori cheese and saffron, so soft and light in taste. The owner is helpful, fast and very kind (thanks for mastiha and kormos ☺️). Greetings...
