I canât believe itâs taken me this long to write a review for Mitsos BBQ. My family and I have been coming here for years, and every single visit has been exceptional. This place truly deserves all the recognition it can get.
The food is out of this world. The meat is of the highest quality and cooked to absolute perfectionâjuicy, flavourful, and consistently amazing. The sides are hands down the tastiest weâve ever had, everything is bursting with flavour.
George, the chef, is incredibly talented, and it shows in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. Nontas, the owner, is warm, welcoming, and always goes out of his way to make sure guests feel at home. Itâs rare to find a place thatâs so genuinely accommodating to families and just as welcoming to everyone else who walks through the door.
While you might find more âpicturesqueâ spots around Crete, you wonât find better food or a more heartfelt dining experience. The locals love this place, which says everything you need to know. If youâre visiting during high season, itâs best to book aheadâitâs popular for all the right reasons.
Thank you, Mitsos BBQ, for years of incredible meals...
Read moreI remember this place since literally decades ago. It used to be great. Now you have to book a table or wait forever or not find a table anyway, sometimes you have to wait to be served for some time after you finally found a table, and there is an attitude that I am not a big fan of it really. The food remains great, no doubt about it and the "lower rank" serving staff are polite but some of the seasoned staff (and maybe owners?) seem to be looking down on us. The tourists are just ruining the whole experience, shouting and booking in that small place tables too early for large cohorts that are talking too loudly so they can be heard from one side of the joined tables to the other. You go there at times that we Greeks have dinner, like 9 or 10 pm and you got to wait to find a table and most stuff this place is famous for, is already gone and the menu effectively is left with just a handful of choices. It feels like an Airbnb. I only go there if my friends want to go there. The Greek tavern experience is not there anymore đđđđ. You just don't feel the hospitality this place used to...
Read moreTourist SCAM! Be careful! I went there with 2 friends last night. The food was decent, however not the service. We ordered drinks at the very beginning, however they forgot about it, we asked twice, finally drinks came after food. Now the main issue, forced compulsory TIPS! The waiter probably noticed we are tourists, when we paid for bill, he said they charge tips. He was standing and holding the POS machine, he wouldnât show me what the machine shows. I asked what were the options, he started from 25%!!! Yes, a ripping 25%! That might be in NYC, even London only do 12%. Then he said, maybe 20%, 15%. It was too much, I started to feel uncomfortable and being forced, I could have paid more tips, but he really annoyed me, I asked 5%, he said no option of 5%, minimum 10%, and he still wouldnât show me his POS machine screen. At the end, he forced me to pay compulsory 10% tips. Although I appreciate his work, but tips should be optional by customers. And if he didnât force me, I honestly would be happy to pay more, even cash just to him. For sure he wonât charge tips from local...
