This is a restaurant where the food truly shines. Every dish we tried was a delight, with meat cooked to perfection – tender, flavourful, and confidently handled in the kitchen. The wine list is impressively extensive, spanning both local vineyards and international estates, and the owner’s enthusiasm is infectious; he guides you through the references with genuine passion.
The wine list is extensive, spanning both local vineyards and international estates. The sommelier radiates absolute passion for his cellar. Though accessing the list can be tricky: the updated version is available only via QR code, which didn’t work reliably with our network, while the printed menu was not fully up to date. As a result, navigating the selection proved more difficult than it should have been.
The setting is attractive and pleasant, with a thoughtful atmosphere that enhances the meal. It’s worth noting that the best-placed tables are designed for larger parties of four or more, while tables for two are fewer and often tucked to the side. We arrived without a reservation and were still accommodated, which was much appreciated; service overall remained attentive, if occasionally a touch disjointed in timing.
Prices are firmly in the realm of Europe’s great capitals, which may surprise in Crete, but the ambition of the kitchen and the depth of the wine cellar make this a place...

Our visit to Alibiertos turned out to be a mixed experience. Our reservation was for 10 o'clock, but we faced an exorbitant wait, with the first course arriving at 11:15 and the second course not being served until after 12:00.
Where Alibiertos truly shines is in its extensive wine list, which is served in Riedel wine glasses. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the standard. The sirloin was mediocre, with inappropriate sides, and the lamb had an odd flavor in the juice.
When we expressed our dissatisfaction, rather than addressing our concerns, we were presented with a discounted bill, which created an uncomfortable situation. Although we were offered this discount, we ultimately opted to pay the full bill.
In addition, unlike most restaurants in Crete, we were not offered a small dessert or liqueur when requesting the bill at Alibiertos. In summary, while Alibiertos has its charm in the form of an extensive wine list, the execution of the food and the management of customer service leave much...
Read moreI had saved this restaurant in google maps for a long time and seeing friend after friend visiting I knew it was time to pay a visit myself as well.
It is located nearby Venizelos’ Graves in a quite area off the beaten Chania path which is ideal for a quite evening.
Right off you can tell these people are professionals paying attention to little details and taking the extra step to make sure you are well welcomed and accommodated. I haven’t had such great service in a while!
We ordered various dishes in order to try out as many flavors as possible and in spite of the short menu list (always a positive form my point of view) one can find an option that would suit their needs.
We had the beetroot salad, the eggs with local staka in twisted version of a classic dish, an excellent mushroom risotto with pickled mushrooms that offer a nice flavor contrast and headed towards the meat options going for the pork shank and two premium cuts of black angus that were all exceptionally cooked with respect to the ordered temperatures.
I would definitely visit again and recommended to friends...
