Kourmas — Restaurant in Municipality of East Mani

The couple that owns the restaurant have just had a baby on April 1st but even still, they run the most charming hotel and restaurant where we twice enjoyed a fantastic seaside lunch on the terrace. We were staying in nearby Neo Itilo; however, the two meals we enjoyed here were exceptional.||||The fish is amazingly fresh, they have wonderful bread that is delicious grilled, and the seaside location is charming. The dishes are a array of different colors, a practice still used today so everyone knows which plate, bowl or cup is theirs. The Mani Peninsula offers delicious vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions and potatoes that are delicious, so of course a Greek salad here is top rate, and anything involving potatoes too.||||As well, the seafood is tremendous and fresh. We had grilled octopus that was superb, and TWICE, on both visits, we had fried calamari that simply does not get any better.||||They do fantastic tzatziki, tuna salad, beet salad, wild greens called chorta, boiled potatoes with red onions and green olives that are sublime, fried potatoes (yes!), and the service is wonderfully attentive with a family vibe that is delightful.||||If you are within range of Limeni Village, do treat yourself to an amazing meal at Kourmas, named for the tall palm tree that once stood exactly on the point where now the restaurant and small hotel stands. It is a charming and very worthy visit indeed.||||Thank you both for two scrumptious meals and for the kindness and hard work that shows in your food and the surroundings. One of the best stays we’ve had! Literally every you need in one spot. Beautiful clean modern rooms, fantastic outdoor seating to soak up the sun & value for money and delicious food at the tavern just below.

The rooms are easily accessible and complete with all necessities including an iron, ironing board and other basic amenities. The balcony in our room overlooked the beautiful village of limeni and was a great spot to begin and end the day.

We had breakfast included in our stay and it was amazing! Something different everyday. Whilst most could be used to a buffet breakfast there was no need because they serve everything right to your table. A mix of sweet and savoury, juice and coffee are served followed by your choice of omelette or fried eggs.

Our room had direct access to the outdoor lounge area and the fish restaurant. The outdoor area is perfect with a variety of seating including bean bags and umbrellas. You can enjoy a swim in the sea via the paved pathway. You can also enjoy cocktails here and enjoy the sunset! It’s a perfect spot!

The fish restaurant directly below the rooms serves delicious seafood and you can easily say it’s the best in the Limeni area!

The staff of the entire property made us feel right at home!

Λίγα πράγματα που θα έλεγα για αυτό το μέρος: Πρώτον, η εξυπηρέτηση πελατών ήταν εξαιρετικά κακή — στην πραγματικότητα ήταν σχεδόν ανύπαρκτη. Δεύτερον, η ποιότητα του φαγητού ήταν απαράδεκτη . Μας έφεραν μια χωριάτικη σαλάτα που είχε κυριολεκτικά 4 κομμάτια ντομάτας και τη φέτα στο πλάι, προφανώς σε μια προσπάθεια να την κάνουν να φαίνεται «γκουρμέ» ώστε να δικαιολογήσουν την υπερβολική τιμή της. Παρεμπιπτόντως, η σαλάτα ήρθε χωρίς καθόλου ελαιόλαδο και ούτε έφεραν στο πλάι και έπρεπε να το ζητήσω, αν δε σ είσαι Έλληνας, δεν θα ήξερες ότι η χωριάτικη έχει λάδι για να διαμαρτυρηθείς και να στο φέρουν. Το ψωμί ήταν γελοίο!! Μπαγιάτικο, και παρ’ όλα αυτά μας χρέωσαν 1€ ανά άτομο, παρότι δεν το ζητήσαμε ποτέ. Τα τηγανητά καλαμαράκια ήταν στη κυριολεξία 8 κομμάτια. . Αν μια τετραμελής οικογένεια με 2 παιδικά θέλει καλαμαράκια, θα χρειαστεί 3-4 μερίδες- €12-15 ή μια . Όλες οι μερίδες ήταν τραγικά μικρές, ενώ οι τιμές εξωφρενικά υψηλές — πραγματικά , μόνο ντροπή έχω να πω. Το μόνο πράγμα που ήταν πραγματικά καλό, εκτός από τη θέα, ήταν οι τηγανητές πατάτες- πάλι καλά πέτυχαν και αυτό.

Η τοποθεσία από μόνη της είναι καταπληκτική, αλλά το μαγαζί αποτυγχάνει σε όλους τους άλλους τομείς ενώ οι τιμές δε δικαιολογούνται από τη ποιότητα ούτε τη ποσότητα.

Δεν θα το πρότεινα σε καμία περίπτωση.

Few things I would say about this place: First, the customer service was extremely poor — in fact, it was practically absent. Second, quality of food was below acceptable. They brought a Greek salad that had literally 4 pieces of tomatoes and a feta cheese on the side on an effort to make the salad look gourmet i am assuming so they can justify the absurd price tag - by the way salad came with zero olive oil in it and unless you are a local/ Greek you wouldn’t know that they actually skipped it so you wouldn’t ask for it. Bread, was ridiculous!! Shaggy and probably a day old at least, yet they charged us 1€/ person even though we never asked for bread. Fried Calamari had a handful pieces. To put it in prospective if a family of 4 wants calamari as an appetizer they need 3-4 dishes. All portions were tiny while the prices were outrageously high — truly ridiculous, and something the owner should be ashamed of. The only thing that was actually good other then the view is the French fries.

The location itself is amazing but this place is failing on all other aspects and it does come with a very sticky price tag which is absolutely unjustifiable.
