O Takis — Restaurant in Municipality of East Mani

They think they own you.

I tend to avoid over touristic places but everyone in Limeni tried to send me to this place so I thought I should give it a shot.

We had a table booked and arrived with my wife only to see a bunch of service staff without masks, in the middle of the pandemic, handling money without sanitizing their hands. Some guy called Sotiris was an absolute joke. He was calling out the few service staff wearing masks to take them off!!!! Really??

We waited for 20 minutes before someone spoke to us about our table. They had nothing ready for us and this Sotiris guy was trying to have us sit literally next to another bunch of people! I asked him politely if we could take another table that was better placed but he said it was reserved (as if mine wasn't). They finally put a table together next to the kitchen but whatever.

When you go to a fish restaurant the menu is pointless. At the end of the day you will have to see what's the catch of the day. This Sotiris guy came and said "what are you getting". What are we getting mate? You haven't shown us the fish for crying out loud. I asked him to show us to the fish of the day and he said "it's up there - go and see".

We went up there and there was no one to show us the options . If I could recognize the types of fish sitting on ice I would be already an expert and could grill them at home...some guy who couldn't speak English or Greek - I think the guy manning the grill - tried to show is around but the lack of communication was not getting us anywhere. Finally some guy (the one that couldn't show us to our table initially) came up to take our order. I realised he wasn't listening and was trying to communicate with other people. That was it for me. I ve had it and he got an earful.

During the meal this guy Sotiris - still not wearing a mask - almost threw food at us almost to the point that we had to flex our skills in catching plates in the air. We said thanks every time and he said nothing every time as well ☺️

The food was decent but here is the thing. Really good service can save a night if the food is mediocre. Really good food cannot save the night if the service is rude.

My wife and I have travelled the world and honestly we have never experienced such rude service. A few years back we went to Myconos and we were treated like royalty. If you get treated like royalty in places where they get to meet actual royalty that definitely need to set the tone for other restaurants.

I blame me for not trusting my gut and falling into the tourist trap.

P.S. the reserved table was given to the next guy that came along. He was a doctor apparently - not plebes like the...

Δεν κάνω κριτικές σε καταστήματα, καθώς σέβομαι τον κόπο του κάθε εργαζόμενου στον χώρο, έχοντας εργαστεί στο χώρο.

Στο συγκεκριμένο κατάστημα είναι η μία και μοναδική φορά που θα ασχοληθώ, καθώς πρόκειται για κάτι εξωπραγματικά απαράδεκτο. Δεν σέβεται ούτε τα χρήματα που ο πελάτης είναι διατεθειμένος να δώσει, ούτε τη διάθεσή του.

Ας ξεκινήσουμε με όλη την εμπειρία από την αρχή (ευχαριστώ όποιον ασχοληθεί να το διαβάσει όλο, γιατί έρχεται σεντόνι).

Καθόμασταν δίπλα στο Τελωνείο για ένα κοκτέιλ, περιμένοντας να αδειάσει κάποιο τραπέζι ώστε να πάμε στο μαγαζί. Όταν αδειάζουν δύο τραπέζια που μας ενδιέφεραν, προχωράμε προς το κατάστημα και ζητάμε από τον υπεύθυνο για τις κρατήσεις αν υπάρχει κάτι διαθέσιμο για δύο άτομα, ιδανικά με θέα στη θάλασσα. Μας ενημερώνει πως υπάρχει ένα τραπέζι για έξι άτομα, αλλά επειδή είμαστε μόνο δύο, προτιμά να μην μας το δώσει. Δεκτό, προφανώς. Πολύ ευγενικά, καθίσαμε σε ένα άλλο τραπέζι από τα διαθέσιμα στον εσωτερικό χώρο.

Πριν παραγγείλουμε, άδειασε ένα τραπέζι δίπλα μας και ρωτήσαμε αν μπορούμε να μετακινηθούμε εκεί. Ο σερβιτόρος το αρνήθηκε αμέσως, λέγοντας πως είναι κρατημένο. Δεν δείξαμε ενόχληση, αν και φαινόταν ξεκάθαρα πως το τραπέζι δεν ήταν κρατημένο. Συνεχίσαμε κανονικά τη διαδικασία της παραγγελίας. Μετά από 25 λεπτά, μπαίνουν στο μαγαζί δύο κοπέλες, οι οποίες κάθονται στο ίδιο τραπέζι χωρίς να ρωτήσουν κάτι, προφανώς δεν υπήρχε κράτηση. Δεν έχω κανένα θέμα με τις κοπέλες, αλλά η διαφορά είναι ότι εγώ ρώτησα ευγενικά και εισέπραξα άρνηση, ενώ εκείνες απλώς κάθισαν.

Κανένα πρόβλημα να κάτσω οπουδήποτε, σε όλα τα τραπέζια τα ίδια ακριβά και άνοστα πιάτα θα έρθουν, τα οποία θα περιγράψω πιο κάτω. Το μόνο που αλλάζει είναι η θέα, και επειδή ήμουν σε διακοπές, είπα να κάνω μια προσπάθεια, εφόσον υπήρχε διαθεσιμότητα.

Πάμε στο φαγητό. Οι επιλογές λίγες και οι τιμές υψηλές. Είχαμε διαβάσει και δει διάφορα θετικά reviews, οπότε περιμέναμε τουλάχιστον κάτι αντάξιο των χρημάτων μας.

Τα παντζάρια κρύα, σαν να βγήκαν απευθείας από το ψυγείο στο πιάτο σας.

Το χταπόδι, για το οποίο μας ενημέρωσε ο σερβιτόρος ότι μπορεί να είναι σκληρό και το εκτίμησα γιατί ξεκαθάρισε τη θέση του. Θα εκτιμούσα περισσότερο αν μας είχε πει ότι ήταν κατεψυγμένο. Καταλαβαίνω πως το χταπόδι μαλακώνει έτσι, αλλά δεν καταλαβαίνω πώς γίνεται να πάει απευθείας από την κατάψυξη στην ψησταριά. Το ένα από τα δύο πλοκάμια (που κόστισαν 25€) είχε κάτω-κάτω μια πολύ έντονη, κακή οσμή και αυτό δεν προέρχεται μόνο από το ίδιο το χταπόδι.

Από το ψάρι που επιλέξαμε το κρέας δεν ξεκολλούσε από το κόκκαλο, ενώ το μάγουλο και το κολάρο ήταν πικρά προφανώς από κακό ψήσιμο.

Το κυριότερο όμως είναι τα θέματα υγιεινής. Οι σερβιτόροι μετέφεραν πράγματα από τραπέζι σε τραπέζι (λεμόνια, αλάτια κ.λπ.). Το τραπέζι είχε κολλώδη υφή από τη βρωμιά και ό,τι ακουμπούσες, κολλούσε.

Στο τέλος, κατά την πληρωμή, ο σερβιτόρος με ρώτησε αν θα αφήσω 10% tips. Θα τα άφηνα έτσι κι αλλιώς, γιατί γνωρίζω πόσο σημαντικά είναι τα tips για τους εργαζόμενους. Όμως δεν ρωτάς κάτι τέτοιο. Όταν κάποιος θέλει να αφήσει, το κάνει. Το να τον ρωτάς σε στυλ «θα αφήσεις 10%;» τον φέρνει σε δύσκολη θέση και ουσιαστικά τον πιέζεις να πει ναι από ντροπή.

Δεν είναι θέμα χρημάτων, είναι το ότι πρόκειται για μία από τις χειρότερες εμπειρίες που είχα ποτέ σε μεσημεριανό φαγητό. Για να μπω στη διαδικασία να γράψω...

If you respect yourself you should NEVER go to this place. we went there 13 people to eat to this '' famous '' place. I will tell you only one thing. i was starving to death that day and i ended up leaving the tavern without eating even one bite. the worst service i have seen in my whole life in all over the world. very rude stuff, unjustifiable expensive and they show absolutely no respect to any customer. we paid 800 euros to leave from there with nothing but nerves and bitter. they brought half of the stuff we ordered after 2 hours, they never brought the rest of the food even when we were almost begging them. the bill was 20% more than the prices in the menu without any explanation. we sit there for 3 hours and instead of enjoying the food we spent all our time begging the stuff to give some attention to us and bring the right food we ordered in the right time with the w right price. this is the first review i write in my life, and the only reason i do this is to prevent other people from spending so much money to a tavern that shows absolutely no respect and no professionalism at...
