Folegandros Bakery — Restaurant in Municipality of Folegandros

With 24 hours left on Folegandros we realised we still had not tried the local pie, Καλασούνα, or kalasouna.

There are only 2 traditional bakeries on Folegandros, one in the Chora and the other in Ano Merio.

We received our directions from a local and jumped in the car and drove up to Ano Merio, looking out for the small signs to the bakery as we drove along the narrow road.

We found the bakery before it closed late in the morning. In the simple cabinets the pies were displayed, both savoury and sweet pies and pastries.

Wonderful. All is delicious! Apple pie. Orange pie. Cheese pie and feta pie with zucchini. We loved everything. Difficult to find but it is a nice address. There is a sign on the road. The best is to park on the main road and do the rest by foot since the path is too narrow for a car and there is no real parking there. Go for it if you pass by Ano Mera! It is really worth it. Best pastries we had on the island and affordable (around 2 or 3 euros...

We found this bakery thanks to our host who suggested us to go and try it. We went there every morning, the freshness and authenticity of their products is priceless. I've eaten better at this little bakery than at a fancy restaurants. The grugere pie and spinach pie are exquisite, the chocolate one too. Also the biscuits are sooo good.
