With 24 hours left on Folegandros we realised we still had not tried the local pie, Καλασούνα, or kalasouna.
There are only 2 traditional bakeries on Folegandros, one in the Chora and the other in Ano Merio.
We received our directions from a local and jumped in the car and drove up to Ano Merio, looking out for the small signs to the bakery as we drove along the narrow road.
We found the bakery before it closed late in the morning. In the simple cabinets the pies were displayed, both savoury and sweet pies and pastries.
