HONEY & OIL — Restaurant in Municipality of Glyfada

I first came to Honey & Oil in 2019. I brought two of my friends from home. We were all blown away. My friends still talk about this restaurant (so do I). The food is on another level. It’s all the comforts of home cooked Greek food that I know and love but somehow made even better (don’t tell my yiayia). And today I went back with three other friends who were visiting and were even more impressed. First, we brought all of our luggage with us as we had to leave to go to the airport after our lunch. (We went early enough on a weekday to bet there would be space for us, and there was). Everyone there was so accommodating, kind, and willing to help us. I wish I knew everyone’s names to give a special shout out to them in this review. We ordered the Greek village salad, tzatziki, tirokefteri, saganaki halloumi, fava, fasolia gigantes, yemista, pites, grilled rustic bread, and ribeye steak. It was generous portions and we took away the leftovers, but we wished we could eat it all every day! We stayed for hours and did not feel rushed. I can not stress how kind everyone was. The owner, Giorgos, and all of the servers working were extra accommodating, made sure everything was to our liking and beyond, so much hospitality. When it was time to leave, I asked if they had the number for a taxi to take us to the airport. Well, Giorgos was so generous he offered to drive us!!! That was just the nicest thing to do. The Grumpy Boss Escapee Edition** Let me paint you a picture: Ladi Meli used to be that one friend who’s amazing but always in a bad mood. The food? Legendary. The former boss? Let’s just say his smile was rarer than a well-done steak at a gourmet restaurant. But guess what? The grump has left the building, and the new owners are basically the Mary Poppins of restaurateurs everything is practically perfect in every way. The food here is so good, I’m convinced the chefs have a direct line to the Greek gods. The honey-glazed dishes? Divine. The olive oil? So fresh, it probably introduced itself to the bread. And the service? Shockingly pleasant! No more awkward tension when you ask for a refill just genuine hospitality and maybe even a freebie if you laugh at the waiter’s jokes. The vibe is now "chill taverna meets happy hour," and they’re open until 1 AM, which is perfect for those "I need carbs after midnight" moments. The new ownership clearly knows that running a restaurant should involve more laughter and less sighing. +Nice Place. Amazing Chicken Meli and Ladi. Fresh potatoes. Starter on the house bread with a kind of yogurt. Desert in the end. For this was value for money -We order Antikristo per kg 36.00 euro that was looking good but it was too hard, dry and smelling (3 out of 10 regarding experience we had in Crete). Really disappointed. For sure not worthy for this money. Also on the Menu they wrote 2 times Antikristo per kg, the one with potatoes and the other with out. As a result it was without potatoes and we order extra for 4.50 euro. All food except actual chicken needed salt and even some peper. Let's hope they will fixed it as they advertise Antikristo and they have an amazing place.
