44 Kouzina — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

We had lunch here yesterday and boy, was it good!!! Our favorite dish was the tuna tartare: delicious! We also chose anchovies and shrimp linguine, all were delicious - but that tartare really took the prize! Their wines by the glass were a perfect pairing: the waitress gave really precious advice. In fact, the service was excellent (our waitress was a young red haired lady), and the complimentary dessert and raki were super tasty! Most definitely in my top 5 of best restaurants in Crete during this vacation - would go back again. Oh, I almost forgot: their fish is...

This is one very interesting restaurant located in the outskirts of Heraklion city center, specializing in fish and seafood dishes.

All courses are prepared from fresh ingredients which is not always the case in most local restaurants as this restaurant “lives” next door to a fish market.

One thing I noticed, apart from the food of course, is the decoration of the place which consists among other thing of real plants which, in my point of view, shows the care the owner puts in this restaurant.

I would definitely visit again as it is a unique place...

Very fair prices and the most pleasant staff. Their fresh fish is on display as you enter - you have a choice to either buy the fish to take it home or for them to cook it for you at the restaurant. We each had a fresh fish dish, along with a salad, dakos and beer for €25 (and in true Cretan form we were provided with a free desert and raki!)

It's a pity this place isn't on the tourist map because it means people are...
