Minotavros Restaurant Cafe — Restaurant in Municipality of Heraklion

Called in as we were desperate for a drink after visiting Knossos Palace, ended up staying for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Had a caesar salad, Greek salad and cretan spinach pie, all 3 of which were very good and reasonably priced, especially given the location, just across the road from the car park for the palace. Also had the cleanest, freshest toilet I've been in on Crete! Only slight fly in the ointment was we said we'd pay by card but the young lad serving us (owner's early teens son probably) misheard us and brought a bill for cash, which we didn't have enough of to pay. Owner got a bit stroppy, partly at us and partly at his 'son', as he said he'd have to pay 2...

We ate breakfast here before crossing the street to the palace. It was divine. We shared an omelette, fruit smoothie, and Greek yogurt with fruit and honey. If I could have eaten more, I would have. The food was so fresh and flavorful. It was absolutely delicious. The menu was in English, the hosts spoke perfect English to us, and we absolutely enjoyed our breakfast from the patio. Getting off the bus and needing a bathroom led me in here despite the guy waving in customers and looking like a “tourist trap”

Turns out the food is great, I’m not a food critic, but I enjoyed it. The menu is large and extensive with something for probably everyone. Also, the prices are very reasonable too.
