Thief, watch the prices, watch your money Lady running the place convinced us to try a fresh fish from the grill. Even though we ate within an hour prior to that we decided to take her up on the offer as she gave us a sad story how life in that little village is tough and they are even thinking of leaving the island as it is hard to make money. Good tasting fish, listed for €12 in the menu. When the bill came in at the end, she priced the fish at €50 stating it was not the same fish as in the menu, that the one we had was premium quality priced at €50 per kg even though it is not listed anywhere in her restaurant. I knew right then that I was getting conned on multiple levels. The easiest thing for me was to challenge the weight of the fish so I asked her to show me the weight of another one from the same batch. We picked the largest one she had left and it came in at 470g, less than a half of what she wanted to charge me. Instead of changing here story then, she then tells me that she gave me the largest one she had. "Twice as large as this one?!" I asked and she confirmed. The fish I had was even slightly smaller than the one we weighted. I gave her a couple more opportunities to come clean but she kept lying more and more. I decided not to further argue with her, paid the bill and left with my family. There are at least two other similar restaurants next to this one. I hope this review reaches some of the potential customers so they chose the other ones (not the "lady" that practically drags the...
Read moreAfter visiting Olympos village, I spent a couple of hours in Diafani. And, except for a 15 minute walk, I spent time in Chrissi Akti Bar.
I learned - if this is really true - that there's about 45 people living in Diafani. No shops (one mini market), no nothing but bars/restaurants for people to arrive and depart from visiting Olympos village.
But I loved "Chrissi's" energy ( I don't know if it was her bar nor named after her), she was constantly trying to lure customers in, but, in a very non-intrusive way. It was a privilege to see her working customers without too much hassle!
She really is a good woman, taking care of the cats on the island, trying to make her living.
So, if you visit Chrissi Akti, and wish to help cats, maybe donate to Chrissi? I don't know, if she even accepts donations. But ask her, please.
But at least, have a cold drink at her restaurant.
And bring your swimming gear, the beach (small pebble, clean and clear waters)...
Read moreA small restaurant at the seaside with a really nice owner. They also own umbrellas on rhe beach for 10€(cheapest ik Karpathos). The lady also serves drink pn the beach.
Food: We started with classic: Giant beans (one of the best I tried here with really good sauce) Small shrimps (they tasted fresh and crispy) Calamari (super prepared, but with some herbs that a bit ruined the taste) Gavros (small fried fish, good taste, fresh, but according to my opinion they should be cleaned; they are too big just to chop off the head and fry)
It is a good restaurant with descent...
