Simple but full of LOVE. We arrived here after a long day in Elafonisi beach and were very hungry. Captain Fidias is a family owned restaurant. Captain Fidias welcomed us himself and offered us raki shots and some peach. He is such a kind hearted person that we really felt home. His sons go fishing every day and we were presented with their catches of the day and we selected two fish (Fagri and Sarpa). We also ordered octopus. The restaurant is not a touristic destination but the sea food was one of the bests (if not the best) we have ever tried. Simple but delicious. In the end we were offered more raki shots (which was also homemade by Captain Fidias and were amazing) with homemade Lukumades (which was served with cinnamon and honey) that we enjoyed a lot. If you want to have a unique experience of a local greek restaurant and have a great seafood with great view of the sea, this is a place...
Read moreMy partner and I spent a lot of our time here while in Crete. First we came for the beach alone, but as soon as we pulled up we were welcomed with friendly greetings and told that the umbrellas and lounge chairs were free of charge! We would go up and order some drinks and food to our lounge chairs on the beach and it was so lovely. A wonderful place to spend the full day. The restaurant is ran by a lovely family and everyone is so nice and welcoming! There is always a few fresh octopus hanging out ready to be eaten — and plenty more seafood/fish. The restaurant usually has some tables going, but is never too crowded and the beach is never crowded — it truly is a hidden gem! We have found ourselves coming here for the past 4 days in a row (we actually turned back from Elafonisi beach to come here instead) and we have grown to love it more and more. I highly recommend stopping by and spending...
Read moreAbsolutely an amazing experience! The host was super friendly and fair. He took me to see the day’s catch, let me choose my fish, and even suggested a smaller one so I could enjoy it whole.
The food was out of this world - simple dishes made with only three or four ingredients, but cooked so masterfully that you could taste each one.
We had a big meal:
Grilled octopus with olive oil and balsamic vinegar - amazing.
Shrimp saganaki - I never knew basil could taste this way; easily the best saganaki ever.
And the fish… OMG, the fish! A perfectly grilled sea bream with just salt, olive oil, and lemon - absolutely divine.
Greek salad and tzatziki - fresh and super tasty
At the end, on the house, they served deep-fried donut balls with honey, cinnamon, and sesame seeds. They had a crunch you could hear all the way back home.
I cannot recommend this...
