Choice: I'm a fussy eater (really fussy) and I could of picked so many dishes, it was amazing how many family friendly options they had but I picked something different to fish as my family was having fish and didn't want to have fish. So I had the meatballs.

Service: It was great service they gave you plenty of time to choose your meal and good spacing between starters, mains and dessert to have a chat with he people you're with and let the food sit and settle so your not full Instantly.

Atmosphere/area: The sunset veiw is amazing and theirs plenting of seating to see it. It's a friendly atmosphere so you don't need to bring your finest clothing to dine there.

My dining experience: I had meatballs (yes a weird choice for a fish restaurant) but even so the taste was amazing. Like a firework show but for taste buds, the texture was perfect not chewy, nothing burnt, not falling apart perfect! It was more like a burger shape than ball shape but that's not to important to you as your still wondering whether if this is the best meal you've had.

The dessert : Wow! Just wow I don't have a picture of it as we engulfed it as soon as it landed on the table it was delicious. If there was a 6 stars option I would put that because of the dessert it's classic Greek pankakes with ice cream and I say gordan ramsay could cook it the same if he tried. It had the taste of a family recipe in it...

long review ahead so TLDR: if deciding between the three taverns - definitely come here. ask for recommendations, must order fish soup.

the best tavern in the region of chania. really special and one of a kind dishes.

we tried their recommendations, fish soup with scorpion fish & octopus stew with honey.

fish soup comes in two parts: thick stew-like broth and fish with boiled vegetables. on the side you get cretan rusks. it was recommended to eat everything together. the scorpion fish fell off the bone, we divided the vegetables and broth, crumbled the rusks onto the soup, topped it with lime squeezes. the taste is MINDBLOWING. we never had anything comparable. really really unique and so delicious. we cleaned the bowl with bread.

octopus stew came with a side of fries, the taste is salty, hearty and just slightly sweet. also the texture of octopus is so so good.

we tried taverns in kissamos, falassarna and elafonisi beach and also the other two at the beach, the menus and also their recommendations were all very similar. at sunset fishtavern we finally had the feeling of eating authentic homemade cretan food. never before have we tasted anything like the flavors here.

we‘re really thankful for the wonderful meal and lovely conversation. 100 out of 10...

WOWWWWWW. Such a special meal!! We had Octopus Stew with Honey and Kakavia with Grouper (per their recommendation.) The octopus was the most unique and tasty we have had. The flavors were great without being overwhelming. The kakavia…goodness, so incredible! We got the last portion of the day and had never heard of this fisherman stew before but MAN WAS IT AMAZING. My husband can’t stop raving about it. It came out potatoes, carrots, onions, pumpkin (?), fish on one plate and a bowl of broth. You build your stew in a bowl. So comforting and tasty. We were also served yogurt with fresh made preserved kidoni fruit (also called quince…similar to pear). Guess what? Amazing again! We bought a...

It’s impossible to put into words how wonderful this place is and the incredible people who create it. Every single dish we tried was like heaven — and we tried a lot! Grilled fish with delicious olive-lemon souce, pasta with shrimps, octopus stew, baked fish with vegetables, appetizers — everything was absolutely perfect. Mrs. Eleni truly transported us to paradise with her cooking. The place itself is charming, and the view of the setting sun is simply breathtaking. We’ve never encountered a warmer, more genuinely kind service anywhere else. We came for dinner and left with new friendships. This place will be our main reason to return to Crete.
