I've been to the place quite a few times most of them satisfied more or less. Been there with friends and our kids a couple of months ago. Five out of ten people ordered grilled steak, a skewered pork portion and grilled pork. Before the grilling the polite and helpful waiter informed us that the father - owner hasn't got whole steaks but has cut them into small bits instead. ' Is it ok with you or would you like something else ? ' We answered positively so the steaks came. Problem is that the cut was merely a steak. Various bits ( two were more expensive cuts ) four out of five were overcooked and came from a way to old animal. Chewy and impossible to cut with the - not so sharp - knife. Personally I would have returned them all but since the other couple took us there to treat us, they paid for everything and they didn't want to make a scene we said nothing.... It's a bit sad since the owner grows his own animals and vegetables and the place is mostly known for that. Sorry mate but we've eaten homegrown meat before and customers should be treated respectfully, not with the ' I'll tell you what's the best for you.... Maybe tourists would fall for it I don't know. Other than that, great location, shady place under huge trees by a tiny river and lots of space. Two stars for the previous experiences and the kind...
Read moreJust wow. Words can't describe this place. Great authentic Cretan and Greek food. This happened to us for 4th time that after meal they gave us dessert on the house. It seems it is a Greek tradition to offer dessert in the end on the house, but only places which are really run by locals not the posh ones who skim tourists. This is one such place. A worth stop even though one has to take a little detour from usual highway. Thank you to the owners who are also the ones who serve and cook. So really one can connect to the local folks through food and hospitality. They even offered us to take fresh fruits from their garden. When my daughter took couple of fruits the owner came by and literally gave her a ton of fruits from thier garden. She literally came to me to ask if it will rude to take so much. Incredible hospitality. Almost everything you eat is home grown. Even the bread is baked after you oder it. Incredible place....
Read moreThe food was fair enough. The salad and lamb were fresh and tasty. However, I can't say it's a very good dining experience. They charged us €40 for 2 people's food at the end without noticing us at the beginning (also our fault didn't clarify with them clearly at the beginning). For me it's definitely overpriced. You can get better food in a more fancy place.
The dining area was full of mosquitoes, but you know it's a farm so it's hard to avoid.
The cats were cute but as the other comments mentioned, two of them seemed a bit sick. I can also see the injury on their body. Wish the owner can take care of them more.
P.s. During our stay the owner paid a lot of attention to a table of 4 Chinese girls instead of the other guests. He was sending them white roses, extra food and sitting with them all the time (and talked about Japanese words - why?) Not really something special but it just looks a bit...
