Very disappointed to visit a pink beach that wasn't pink at all. We stopped at a local Taverna on the way to Rethymno. First impression was embarrassing. Small cosy taverna and empty. But that impression quickly disappeared. The innkeeper gave us her full attention and we were able to order immediately and also had our food done very quickly and I must stress, great food. Everything we tasted, the salad, the meat and the pastries were wonderful. Satisfied with the selection of tabrnas we finished our meal and were served a homemade watermelon for dessert. We stopped just for a coffee on our way to Elafonisi beach and then return 2 times for more coffee, but also for the Cretan food. Everything was perfect.
