I live in nearby Zoumperi and I pass by this place often, either on my bike or sometimes at night when we go out. As the motto of the place says it offers "traditional flavors without anything fancy". And it's true, the food is very good and reasonably priced, the service is very friendly -they always offer us frosted glasses for our beer-- and the view is among the best in Nea Makri harbor. Now, a couple of extra points about the staff. Last time we were there we saw a mom cat with three kittens nesting in the divide between that shop and the adjacent business and we would stop there often to buy an extra souvlaki to feed them, to the point that the front counter girls would recognize us after a while as the "cat people." One of them eventually said to us "don't worry, everybody feeds them, we do, other customers do." And indeed one time that we were feeding them one of the girls came with some gyro trimmings to feed the cats. But I witnessed another lovely incident. One evening, while I was waiting to order, three young boys walked in. Two of them must have been around 13-14 and the youngest around 10 or 11. They must have ordered only two gyro pita wraps, because from where I was standing the guy prepping the wraps asked the youngest kid "are you not eating?" The kid said something to him that I couldn't overhear, but I assume was along the lines "I don't have any money." Next thing I know, without missing a beat, the guy makes a third pita wrap and hands it to the youngest boy who walked out of there with the biggest smile on his face. Kudos to that guy and the...
Read moreA bit different here to your local taverna. You find your table then go into the main building to order and pay for your food and drink. You carry your own drinks back to the table, then the waiter will bring your food. Drinks are cheap - €2.40 for a 500ml beer, €2.50 for 500ml wine. A plate of gyros meat is €9.40 and is plenty for a normal human. And it is tasty. Both pork and chicken are excellent (they do a mixed plate, which I had) and come with either a tzatziki (pork) or a hollandaise (chicken) sauce (you get both with the mixed plate). Bit of a kerfuffle if you like lots of cold beer but, otherwise a great place to eat. Apologies for the photo - I was very hungry and forgot to photo the food before consuming. As you can see there is...

Service was horrible, no menu whatsoever, served us a whole disc for one kalamaki, no glasses served for cola, beer took way too long to arrive and for both, they told us to go to the counter and pick them up. 2/10
The view was amazing, with the boats and the port, lovely atmosphere 8/10
