Argo — Restaurant in Municipality of Marathonas

Tίποτα ιδιαίτερο, αλλά βρίσκεται ακριβώς δίπλα στο νερό. Η εξυπηρέτηση υστερεί! Τηλεφωνήσαμε και ρωτήσαμε αν είχαν τραπέζι 5 λεπτά αργότερα. Είπαν όχι. Περπατήσαμε προς στο εστιατόριο και υπήρχαν 3 άδεια τραπέζια που ήταν ακόμα ακαθάριστα. Μας κάθισαν σε ένα από τα ακαθάριστα τραπέζια και περιμέναμε να το καθαρίσουν. Μετά από 5 λεπτά άρχισαν να καθαρίζουν τα άλλα άδεια τραπέζια πρώτα που ήταν ακόμα κενά! Αυτό είναι σύνηθες φαινόμενο και έχει να κάνει με την ποιότητα εξυπηρέτησης και την εκπαίδευση. Δυστυχώς λείπουν και τα δύο στην Ελλάδα. Επιστροφή στην εμπειρία μας… Αν και φαίνεται να υπάρχει αρκετό προσωπικό, τρέχουν σαν κοτόπουλο με τα κεφάλια τους κομμένα! Όταν μιλούσα σε έναν από τους ιδιοκτήτες, είπε ότι δοκίμαζαν κάτι «καινούργιο». Φαίνεται ότι υπάρχει μόνο ένα άτομο που παίρνει παραγγελίες, σίγουρα δεν θα παίξει σωστά. Την ίδια στιγμή, ο υπεύθυνος της παραγγελίας φώναζε σε όλο το άλλο προσωπικό πώς να κάνουν τη δουλειά τους. Οι τιμές είναι λογικές όμως. Και η ποιότητα και ποσότητα του φαγητού πολύ καλά και τα δύο. Σε μια πιο ήσυχη στιγμή, ίσως να ήταν πιο ευχάριστο.

This establishment is nothing special but it’s sitting right by the water. Unfortunately, it is poorly run! Service is quite terrible! We called ahead and asked if they had a table available 5 mins later. They said no. We walked by the restaurant anyway and there were 3 empty tables that were still dirty. They seated us at one of the dirty tables and we waited for it to be cleaned. 5 mins later they come by and start cleaning the other empty tables first which were still unoccupied! This is a common phenomenon and has to do with service and training. Unfortunately both are lacking in Greece. Back to our experience… While there seems to be sufficient staff, they are running around like chicken with their heads chopped off! When speaking to one of the owners, they said they were trying something ‘new’. It seems that one person taking orders in such a large establishment is definitely not working. At the same time, the order person is telling all the other staff how to do their job. Prices are reasonable though. And quality and quantity were very good. We arrived at the restaurant a little late but the staff were very kind to serve us. We ordered seafood (of course). Salads and fries were fresh. We also had calamari and sea bream (my favorite) which all were delicious. For desert we had sweet orange that was something different from the typical sweets they bring at Greek restaurants, very tasty though. The restaurant is in front of the sea. Argo is a great place to have a lovely dinner with amazing quality seafood in Nea Makri (I will go further and say in whole Athens)! The food is delicious - even a simple dish like horta is prepared top quality! The fish is so fresh. Great price for such a quality meal. You can sit by the sea and listen to lovely Greek music and waves both at the same time. Alex is a great host as well, he is taking care of every detail to make you feel at home!
