My new favorite restaurant for Anatolian/Middle Eastern cuisine. Located in Marousi, the restaurant occupies a small house with a wonderful garden. This is not visible when you first try to spot the place. From the street, you will see the sign Selim Bay and a long, beautiful corridor lined by trees that will lead you to Selim's front door. The restaurant has outdoor seating for the summer, semi outdoor area for colder times, and lastly, the indoor area with about 12 tables. The staff are very friendly, eager to please and knowledgeable in regards to the menu. The menu had so many options I would like to try that I ended up eating way more than I intended 😅 . We were a party of 4 and we ordered the following: To drink a glass of Ayran, Raki from Crete, Beer and water. Bread promptly served when seated. To start, we tried the Politiki Salad (very tasty), Lahmacun (delicious and a bit spicy), Pacanga (comes with a very nice sauce), Manti, Arnavut Cingeri (dont ask order it), Kuzu Tandir. For the main dish, we ordered the kebab platter for 4 or Kansik Izgara. Dessert, we had to try the Baklava and Kunefe. The food was an experience, amazing quality, and beautiful presentation. Portions were generous. I still wonder how we could stand up after such a large meal. The food was so good that the body did not want to register that it was full 😀. For the meal , I described we paid aprox 35 euro per person. Note that this was an excessive order we made. We took a lot of food home. Lastly, we met the Chef Selim, who was a great guy, winner of the masterchef silver award. Do yourself a favour, call book a table and enjoy! ❤️ If i have not convinced you, take a look at the...
Read moreThe restaurant is located behind the train station in Maroussi and has a very large interior space, but also a large courtyard with tables.
In the interior there are nice furniture and large murals reminiscent of the East.
The menu contains too many options and one visit is definitely not enough to try everything you want.
Having been to the restaurant 5 times, I can recommend the following: cured beef pie and lahmajoon from the appetizers, the hunkar beyendi from the main courses and the yogurt doner from the grilled dishes.
Selim, in addition to owning the place, is literally everywhere: at the entrance to welcome customers, at the tables to speak with everyone, in the kitchen, but also at the end he is always willing to thank you and take pictures. He is a unique person who you are happy to see and eat in...
Read moreI wasn’t aware of the fame of Selim, so it was a surprise when I called and they told me they had one last table to reserve. Now I know why!
The atmosphere takes you to the east with beautiful decoration, wall paintings and colorful lights.
Staff is very friendly and the service is fast. The chef is also very friendly and makes sure everything is OK.
Now the food. Well anything I might say cannot compare to the experience one has when they are in the restaurant! Everything we tasted was delicious and it really reminded us of our time in Constantinople. If I had to talk about one dish that would be the salad. Just look at the beautiful colors and imagine a mix of flavors in your mouth! Amazing!
We will definitely go again and I recommend you...
