We had diner yesterday night at Achinos after our friends recommended it. The setting on the beach, the lighting and the table we had booked ahead were nice. But the service was very unprofessional. The starters came after we had finished with the mains so we sent them back. None of the mains were served together. One last plate of seafood linguine came after we were finished with ours. The bottle of white was fine but not chilled enough. And the quality of the food was a let down. The tarama did not have a great taste not the roe fish eggs. The bread was stale they could have toasted it …The pop corn shrimps were good but without any seasoning blend in taste and served with a cheesy dip. The grilled calamari was ok on the tuff side skin on more like a Tharp salad served with fava lacking in seasoning . My shrimp linguini was not good, not freshly cooked dry and it did not taste like shrimps. I left half on the plate. My husband ordered the sea urchin linguine it was better than the rest cooked like a pasta Al limone but not enough sea urchins to give a proper taste of them to the pasta. It tasted more lemony than urchin but at least this plate was freshly cooked. All in all, we left without a good opinion of this restaurant with a chaotic kitchen and unreliable service and we will certainly not recommend it because of the service wich was a big problem( they did not even apologize for the food delay and starters arriving at the end of the meal…) the mediocre food only the setting has to...
Read moreWe had a great time for our lunchbreak here, we tried many other seafood restaurants while in our Peloponnese tour and the restaurant was definitely trying to push the envelope with some specialties we hadn’t yet seen in menus of the area/region, without being overly fancy (easy to fall into this trap!). I personally went with Urchin Linguine which is a “dangerous” food, since sea urchins can be quite expensive and hard to get the most out of them, but the dish was lovely. We were suggested a local white wine which was both very wallet friendly, and delicious - as Italians we like to think we have very high standards, and here they were definitely met! Our biggest regret was stopping there for lunch hoping for a quick bite - I would have loved to try a “catch of the day” dish but we just couldn’t handle it. Maybe on a future trip - if we’ll ever be in the area again we’ll know where to stop. Service was great, very attentive waiter. We spent around 30€ each with a shared appetiser, main course, and a bottle of wine - which was great considering the quality of the food and the market price of the ingredients (as already mentioned, I had sea urchin linguine…). For the Seafood Linguine we were hoping to see some more seafood, but it’s hard to complain about it - it was still great, and didn’t miss out on flavour. A few less seconds of cooking for both the Linguine dishes would have been ideal, but I personally love “al dente” pasta so that really comes down to...
Read moreFirst off, I would like to say that the food is quality good and the location is great. For a place that is called Urchin and not have Urchin available is a bit of a letdown. They also did not have any seafood moussaka. The crab salad is a complete ripoff as it contains mostly mayo and almost no crab (15eur!) The portions are abysmally small. After reviewing the bill later, i noticed that each slice of bread was charged 0.90 eur!! Who does that? Come on man. The small fanta bottles of lemonaid were 3.5eur (which you can get for 1 eur at a market )We came out of there hungry and over 100eur bill for not very much food. The waiter towards the end barely paid attention to us as I was trying to flag him down. Another table saw that and had to help get him for us. I want to emphasize once again, the food is good but the portions are ridiculously small for what you pay. Tourist trap.
Edit: Just look at the sheer arrogance of the owner's response. He doesn't even address the issues and resorts to insults with no justification. I have traveled all over greece for years and I know a tourist trap when i see one. Shame on you! Edit 2: The continued response of the owner's pompous arrogant attitude keeps going. Again, no substance to his attacks. Fellow readers, this is what you're dealing with. There is such a thing called customer satisfaction, not the other way...
