Captain Cook Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades

The only good thing of this place is the view...also the oil in the table but the bread was the worst we found in all island, probably from the day before. We wait more than 1 hour to receive 2 simple dishes,and there were only other 3 tables!!! No one came to us to apolgize or explain the reason of the long waiting. After our complaint, dishes arrived: The pasta was well cooked but the seafood frozen, while the grilled fish was embarazing overcooked and tastesless. Of course, price no aligned with quality. Full of nice places to eat, don't make same mistake, a real pity to come here! The waiter was nice and kind...

Alla larga! Non fatevi ingannare come noi dalle recensioni positive che, chissà come mai, sono per lo più di 4/5 anni fa. Attirati dalla bellissima posizione sulla baia di Tsigouri, decidiamo di provare. Pessima idea. Già al nostro arrivo il fatto che tutti i numerosi tavoli siano vuoti ci insospettisce Ci accoglie una signorina molto gentile, che ci porta un menu dove però tre quarti dei piatti in lista non è disponibile. Optiamo quindi per i soliti piatti classici. Risultato: 80 euro in due per un piatto scarso di fava, un saganaki, un chicken souvlaki (stopposo e insapore), un fritto scarso di calamari, chiaramente surgelati, vino della casa (mezza caraffa), una bottiglia di acqua gassata, un caffè greco.. 80 euro! Mediamente 20 euro in più di altre taverne tipiche presenti sull’isola. Ma udite udite .. ci hanno fatto pagare anche un piattino di anguria che abbiamo preso solo perché ci è stato proposto, pensando (che ingenui!) che fosse offerto come e’ usanza di solito in Grecia, soprattutto in una taverna tipica. Evitate alla grande ! E dire che abbiamo scelto Schinoussa pensando di ritrovare la Grecia di un po’ di anni fa. Delusione. Peccato perché il posto è meraviglioso. Se fosse in mano a persone diverse, farebbe affari d’oro pur mantenendo i prezzi delle vere...

It is a restaurant with beautiful view and delicious food, I had there the best calamari i have ever eaten (I have eaten a lot of calamari as I live in Spain and it has been my 4th holiday in Greece), they prepare it with lemon sauce and it was so good that i ordered it also on another day. Choice of food is not big but they recommend you well, stuff is really helpful...
