We chose Schinoussa for the first time, because we were looking for simplicity, Cycladic beauty and tranquility. We knew in advance about the high class gastronomy of the island and especially about the restaurant «Mrs. Pothiti» with chef Mrs. Filio. The food we enjoyed at this restaurant added value to our enjoyable vacation. All the dishes were wonderful, with simplicity and sound technique, so that the local ingredients were highlighted, offering us delicious magic. Red mullet ceviche, mylokopi fricassee, scorpion giouvetsi, magical taramo-salad with breadsticks with cuttlefish ink, sardine broscheta, octopus with fava beans and many other dishes. For dessert, there are no words for the lemon tart and the saragli with cream ice cream. The cellar is full of Assyrtiko to delight the palate. But also the stuff is delightful. Evangelia, Anna and Elias with personal interest helped us with the choices. The secret is the graceful presence of the chef at the tables, to check the menu that people are ordering and to ask us if we are enjoying. It is worth visiting Schinoussa to taste the creations of Mrs. Filios along with the beauties of this simple island., Thank you "Mrs. Pothitis" we will come back to you...
Read moreTiny cute place at chora. It s always crowded so you need to make a reservation. We had a table at the balcony near the view which was amazing. Rich menu with many choices..we did not know what to chose. We had the green salad. Fresh and crispy with an amazing chausse made of louiza plant. simple..could be elevated with some cheese..though still pretty delicious. Plan was to have more appetizers but main dishes were so good that we decided to go for them. We had the musaka that was outstanding(!)and a fish fillet, catch of the day, grilled with grilled veggies. Wine list also was surprisingly good although overpriced. At the end we had the saragli for desert which was also great. Overall: food was delicious and portions veeeery satisfying, wine/beer list well informed, service was fast overall ok given the overcrowded place, ambience is perfect for a nice cosy dinner, prices are a bit high but quality kind of...
Read moreA perfectly average, overpriced, wannabe fancy restaurant.
The food was not bad, but it’s clear that they were trying to punch above their weight. The ceviche had no lime and the anchovies were not salted, for example…
What left a bitter taste though was the service. While the main waitress was polite, the younger waiter was a total disaster. He was rude when we asked for another table, and when the lemon pie we ordered came with a spoon and we asked for a fork, he seemed very bothered, and questioned why we would even need one. I’m sorry, when one expects to charge €80pp, one fetches the fork without attitude.
The cherry on the cake was the fish we ordered, a 570g sargo. The fish that arrived was barely 300g, was over cooked and came without the customary olive oil and lemon sauce. When we complained, they admitted their mistake and charged us for 350g instead… no further...
