My info on Plaka. Took the bus from Naxos. Bought the tickets the night before down on the waterfront station. One of the last stores before heading to Temple of Apollo. Think it was about 9€ return. The bus runs every 1/2 hour from 8AM till 2AM. Was staying outside of town at Sweet Home Naxos and found out could catch the bus from the roundabout near the hospital. Bus ride is about 20-25 mns. Took the bus all the way to the last stop. A little ways away from the central area. But the first pick up point going home which made for taking your pick of seats on the bus home. The bus makes many stops on the way back to Naxos and the bus ended up with standing room only. At Plaka stayed with the Golden Sands hotel beach bar. The front row sunbeds were 35€ and the next to rows are €25. The front row offers great shade in the early morning to early afternoon. After that hardly any shade. Drinks and food were reasonably priced. But no need to order anything if you want. But the policy there is no outside food or drink. Water was calm but as so were the winds. Sandy Beach with no rocks there. Hopefully all this info helps someone else get to the...

Read moreWhy going to the Caribbean when you have the beautiful beaches of Greece so close to us as European?! Plaka beach is our favourite from Naxos together with Agia Anna beach. The beach is extremely long, it takes about 45-60 minutes to walk its full length, and had fine to grainy white sand. On this side of the island the wind is much calmer than more South of the island. From Agia Anna until half the length of the beach you will find some restaurants on the back street with long chairs on the beach. After that the beach gets more natural with occasional hotels/restaurants. Along the beach we have encountered 3 or 4 nudist areas so it is quite a good inclusive beach :) I highly recommend taking the bus to get there as it was less than 5€ for a return ticket while renting a car will cost you at least 50€/day and very pricey petrol (2€/L). The last bus drops you at about half the...
