We went to this restaurant for dinner and got a table for two. A few minutes after getting seated a staff member brought us a bottle of water which apparently they bring to everybody along with a basket of bread that we didn't get.
Soon after they took our order and in a short amount of time half of the dishes were brought to the table. It's nice that the service is fast but it is an indicator of the lack of organisation. The dishes for the whole table should be brought at the same time.
After we got the second part of our order the food was actually very pleasant, the potatoes were crisp, the chicken was delicious and the portion sizes were pretty huge. The one thing we didn't like about the food was the bread that is included in the salad dish because it was a bit soggy, but regardless, it was delicious.
Even though the staff was pretty nice and welcoming we had to wait a long time for the check. We asked one staff member since we couldn't see the one that was our server. After approximately 10 minutes we asked another one as well. We waited for some time and we asked the girl that is the hostess I believe and when she presented us with the check the water and bread that we didn't get nor ordered were included. She soon corrected the check and removed the bread. The only objection is that restaurants shouldn't charge people for what they didn't order, regardless if it was water or bread.
Overall it is a nice place to visit and the food is very tasty, as well as the atmosphere next to the sea which adds a special effect to the experience.
Side note: We appreciated the kind gesture of the restaurant staff for serving an elderly man that I believe is beggar. It shows the restaurant's hospitality...
Read moreWent to seven different restaurants in Nea Kalikratia and tried sea food. This one probably has one of the best, if not best sea food. Antoni's barley (black dish) is very large portion and I recommend everyone tries it. It really is a dish to remember. Waiter quite wrongly informed me when ordering that half of the dish is cuttlefish. It's not. There is cuttlefish ink and thats mainly it. The dish is basically risotto with sea food and cuttlefish ink. Whole menu is badly translated into English so it's difficult to figure out what's what. Octopus is also good dish, very soft, but portion is very very small. I don't believe there is more then 200 grams of Octopus on the plate. So order if you are not very hungry. My 10 year old son stayed hungry after this meal. But enjoyed the quality very much. Grilled squid is really good quality and nicely arranged on the plate. The arrangement looks like some headless fish almost. Definitely try. I also like they bring water 1l (costs 2 eur), they ask if you want bread (which of course makes no sense with above dishes).
Service is rather chaotic and disorganised. I've seen staff in charge of bringing food from kitchen trying to give it to people who didn't order it. Because he didn't get good info from waiters for which table is the food. And I've seen guests waiting to be served for like 15 minutes and then suddenly someone remembers them. We were served by 3 different waiters for 1 dinner. That's how much...
Read moreThe food and the ambience is absolutely wonderful, but the service is an absolute scam! They charged us for bread and water we didn't order and they just put that stuff on your table without asking! A lot of other establishments do this with water but they don't charge you for it, even if it's bottled water (at least in cafés). And when asked about it they just say: But you ate it! I'm happy to pay for it if it's disclosed from the beginning that it's not free. I'm still baffled... I actually had to explain to him that this is not how this works and they just stared back blankly. They expect you to assume it is the side dish to the sardines (which sadly weren't even good) and therefore included in the price. I didn't eat the bread myself but my boyfriend and his dad did and then they charged all three of us. Even though I loved my spaghetti with shrimps, I will never eat there ever again! The bill is in Greek too so I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't known for sure we didn't order anything three times. I used Google lens to translate. At least I got them to get it off the bill. Be careful...
