BATIS RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Municipality of North Kynouria

Easily the worst meal I’ve had in Greece over the past two weeks. I can’t reconcile how this place has so many good reviews. I’ve had €2.50 gyros far better than what we received at this place. We’ve had so many fantastic meals in Greece, so I’m shocked at how other rave about this place. The food was extremely ordinary in every way - tasteless, limited menu (no fish, no salads), expensive. The waiter/owner got our order wrong - which isn’t the end of the world, but worth mentioning. There are no menus or prices available. You don’t receive an invoice/itemised receipt. The dishes are served with revolting cold, soggy potato chips/fries heaped on top. The only dish that wasn’t terrible was the vine leaves (which appears to be the only dish frequently mentioned in the reviews). I would discourage anyone from eating...

We liked this place so much that we came for dinner twice in a row. The owner vangelis is super personable and he speaks great English. He does all the cooking himself. He does not publish a menu. . Instead, he will tell you what is on the docket for that evening. He has around 10 different things you can choose from. Everything we tried was fantastic. We had mixed vegetables green beans calamari stuffed tomatoes and also a pork dish and a chicken dish. The meat dishes basically just fall off the bone. You don't even need a knife to cut them. They are that tender. He also makes his own wine. We have a bottle of Rose and loved it. This was the best food we had throughout our two weeks in Greece. If we were here for longer we would be coming back every night....

We were the only two people and we had to wait for him to finish setting up for a large group . That’s ok since we are walk ins . He does not sell wine by the glass and the bottle was too expensive. It was just ok . I would not recommend the wine that he makes . He talk too much and never checks to see if you need anything. He is a good cook ! It was pricey for what we had . He had a story about we did not get a receipt for our food . I don’t think he was honest about that . Great location and great place. If he is too busy to do it all by himself , then hire someone to provide a better...
