Taverne Faros — Restaurant in Municipality of Pineios

I have been traveling to Greece the entirety of my life and have eaten out literally hundreds of times throughout the whole country. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor we went to the faros fish tavern for a seafood meal. The waiter was not wearing a mask we had to plead with him to clean the table and when it was time to tell us on the menu he said he only had two varieties of fish. He said the best way to prepare them was to fry them as it brought out the flavor with the onions that were included. We had deep fried sardines and calamari. The calamari must have been frozen left out and refrozen as it was chewy as shoe leather in the sardines I think came out of a can. The one saving Grace is that this restaurant has a wonderful sunset view come here for drinks but never for a meal. Be careful when walking on the grass as they have many dogs and cats that have left a mess. This place has definitely seen better days and we chose one...

Very nice terrace with beautiful views on the sea, the island of Zakynthos and the sunset. The staff is very friendly and honest. You can select the daily fresh fish from a plate that is brought to you at the table. Price of the fish is by the kilo, so after selecting your fish they weight it and come tell you what it will cost. We paid between 15 and 20€ for a nice delicious fish, so very reasonable. Fruit plate was offered on the house afterwards. Make sure to arrive here before the sunset so you enjoy this nice moment. There is also a little road (on foot) that goes down to the sea and a smaller terrace, where you can eat when it is less windy. Another foot trail of 400m goes to the faros...

I recently tried Taverne Faros along with my family and I must say it’s a hidden gem the view is one of the best I’ve seen in all of Greece. You’re practically sitting above the ocean, the people are very friendly and polite, and the food is amazing. We ordered shrimp spaghetti, Greek salad, anchovies, and the fried squid all of which were delicious! What I appreciated the most was the hospitality and accommodations as I’m quite picky with some things and yet they were very good with my requests, very top tier service.
