A Hidden Gem in Cerete - Káneba (Κάνεβα)
Tonight, I had the privilege of dining at Káneba, a quaint family-run restaurant nestled in the heart of Cerete. From the moment I walked in, the warmth of the staff and the ambiance was palpable. The service was impeccable, attentive without being overbearing.
But let's talk about the star of the evening - the food. Simply put, it was divine. The grill dishes were in a league of their own; every bite was a revelation. Their Greek salad, generously doused with local olive oil and crowned with a chunk of fresh feta cheese, set the tone for the meal. The gyro was perfectly seasoned, and the BBQ dishes evoked flavors I didn't know existed. And the moussaka? A dish so exquisite that I would consider flying back to Cerete just for another mouthful!
Despite the top-notch quality, the prices were surprisingly affordable. Káneba is a gem that deserves every accolade it receives. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable dining...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience with the staff, as it seemed they were making their own rules about service. When I asked the manager if I could have sauce on the side, he firmly said no and mentioned there would be an extra charge for that. His tone felt quite dismissive, and when I expressed that I wouldn't be returning, he didn't seem to care at all. It was surprising to see such a lack of effort to satisfy customers. I've been a regular at this restaurant, and this experience was quite frustrating - especially every time I visit them I leave 4-6 euros tips very strange behavior it’s surprise for me for Greek culture never had this sort of experience and cheaper thinking . I will Never return again...
Read moreThe 11th of April we had a meal in Kaneba in Tavronitis for the first time. It is definitely going to be repeated soon! This is a local taverna. It is not a "fine dining" place, but a fine place with good greek food. We ate various appetizers, Lamb in a casserole, Moussaka, Gyros and Pork on the spit. Everything was good, and not high priced. The waiter who served us, was both quick on his feet, good in English, and he had a really good sense of humor. We don´t just like to eat, but to have a good laugh as well. If you want greek food at a reasonable price; you should visit Kaneba. PS.: I loved the picture of the saint just beside the fire...
