Duck — Restaurant in Municipality of Pylaia - Chortiatis

We’ve been here more than once. To be honest I was disappointed on both occasions but for totally different reasons. The most recent experience was bitterly unpleasant. It was raining heavily, parking valet was nowhere to be seen and a young gentleman came out who was very rude and abrupt. We asked for help parking and he rudely waved us to other side of road and walked away. He could have been politer or offered an umbrella for my wife or tried to be helpful. InsteAd he wanted us to go. 2 minutes later we saw two cars with a big group went inside and parked without any complaint or moving cars after, we suspected it’s because we are foreign or he thought we were tourists. No manners or education, just rudeness and arrogance. We went to Electra palace roof top restaurant after and I suggest the owners of this restaurant visit to understand how their staff should be trained in etiquette. My wife and I have been in Michelin star and 5* restaurants all over greece and Europe and for a place which pertains to be this level, the attitude and service was disgusting and not close. We suspect the higher reviews here were from locals who came once or twice and have little understanding and compared to a village taverna- then it would be five stars by comparison. The previous time we came we were treated better although most of the waiters were still a little arrogant and rude. We noticed washed up middle age bazouki singers and pretentious clients but the food was not at the level one would expect. I ordered the 65 euro wagyu beef steak but when it arrived I was disappointed with lack of marbling of fat of which wagyu is famous for. We could have been very regular clients but the last experience and arrogance put us off forever. I give 2 stars as the starters and...

This is only the 2nd restaurant in this city which I have found to be flawless in all departments. It's not posh or pretentious, everything is cooked to perfection and you get an honest, top quality treatment in a restaurant so discretely familiar, it almost feels like you've been going there forever.

There is no way to describe the dishes, which are 100% as you would expect them to be. I honestly don't feel I should judge the food they serve in any way, it would be unfair. Everything we ordered was absolutely perfect, and clearly better than most dishes we've had elsewhere in the past. Order anything from the menu, you won't regret it.

Staff are also flawless: Eager to explain and suggest alternatives, polite and efficient, and absolutely discrete.

You get the added bonus of a nice, quiet garden. Not over-decorated, but also not left to chance. We felt it was the perfect setting for a great meal.

The highlight of this place might be the kitchen. It's not just an "open" kitchen, staff are actually cooking in the same space where you dine, just a few steps away from your table. If you're worried about noise from the kitchen, there's none. You actually often forget that people are cooking next to you.

This is hands down the best restaurant experience I've ever had. We paid around €100 for two main dishes, one appetizer, a salad, two desserts and a bottle of wine. I would be happy paying 150, and it would still be cheap for the overall experience and the quality of food...

Με μια ματιά: στην μέση του πουθενά, αγενές προσωπικό (μόνο ο παρκαδόρος φιλικός) και πολύ μέτριο φαγητό.

Είχαμε κράτηση στις 20:30 και φτάσαμε στις 20:05 καθώς δεν ξέραμε που είναι, εάν είχε κίνηση, εάν θα βρίσκαμε ταξί, κλπ, καθώς δεν ήμαστε από την Θεσσαλονίκη και είχαμε επισκεφτεί την Ελλάδα για τις γιορτές.

Στην είσοδο είχαμε την αυτολεξεί ενημέρωση «η κράτηση είναι για τις 20:30, το τραπέζι δεν είναι έτοιμο και θα πρέπει να περιμένετε έξω». Βλέποντας ότι κρατάμε στα χέρια μας 3ον χρονών παιδί και γνωρίζοντας ότι έξω έχει κρύο δεν μπήκαν καν στον κόπο να μας πουν να περιμένουμε σε μια γωνία μέσα μέχρι να ετοιμαστεί το τραπέζι.

Βλέποντας απ’έξω ότι το τραπέζι είναι έτοιμο από τις 20:25 ξανά μπαίνουμε μέσα στις 20:30 και ρωτάμε εάν είναι έτοιμο το τραπέζι μας μας ενημέρωσαν ότι είναι. Στην ερώτηση μας «είναι εδώ και 5’ έτοιμο γιατί δεν ήρθε κάποιος έξω να μας ενημερώσει καθώς ξέρατε ότι είμασταν έξω;» ξεκίνησε μια λεκτική επίθεση από την ιδιοκτήτρια - chef υποστηρίζοντας το προσωπικό της ότι δεν έκανε κανένα λάθος. Με λίγα λόγια εάν δεν μπαίναμε ακόμα θα περιμέναμε απ’έξω.

Είχαμε την τύχη - ατυχία το τραπέζι μας να βρισκόταν μπροστά από την open κουζίνα.

Αυτό που παρατηρήσαμε ήταν:

Η chef νοιαζόταν παρα πολύ για το ποιος έμπαινε - socializing στο εστιατόριο παρά να τηρήσει τα στοιχειώδη μέτρα υγιεινής: Δεν φορούσε γάντια (νομίζω μόνο 1 ή 2 από το προσωπικό της κουζίνας φόραγε γάντια νιτριολίου) και οποίος έπαινε και ήταν απ’ότι καταλάβαμε από την τοπική επώνυμη σκηνή ή γνωστός της, πήγαινε να τον χαιρετήσει & καλωσορίσει και συνέχιζε μετά την δουλειά που άφηνε στην κουζίνα. Τσιμπίδακι για τοποθέτηση βρώσιμων υλικών στο πιάτο ούτε για δείγμα. Από το κουτί με το χέρι στο πιάτο. Λόγο έλλειψης χώρου στο πάσο τα έτοιμα πιάτα αφηνόντουσαν οπουδήποτε. Πάνω σε γλαστράκια με μυρωδικά, στις παραγγελίες, κλπ. Έμπαινε οποίος ήθελε στην κουζίνα και συζητούσε με την chef και τις περισσότερες φορές πάνω από έτοιμο πιάτο. Λόγο της αρχικής παρεξήγησης, υπήρξε μια παντελής αδιαφορία της chef απέναντι μας, καθώς δεν μπήκε καν στον κόπο αφού τελειώσαμε το φαγητό να έρθει να μας ρωτήσει πως μας φάνηκε το φαγητό. Όπως έκανε με τα υπόλοιπα τραπέζια.

Όσο αφορά το φαγητό, εντελώς ανούσιο - πολύ μέτριο.

Η διακόσμηση, χωρίς καμία συνοχή.

Way overpriced.

Εν ολίγης, εάν δεν πάτε με κάποιον τοπικό επώνυμο ή γνωστό της chef θα έχετε μια Β’ περιποίηση (το παρατηρήσαμε σε αλλά 2 τραπέζια που ήρθαν στις 21:30).

Στα ταξίδια μας στο εξωτερικό, επιλέγουμε συνήθως για τέτοιου είδους εστιατόρια κάποιο εστιατόριο από το Michelin guide. Τώρα κατάλαβα γιατί το Michelin guide δεν κάνει καμία αναφορά γι’αυτο το εστιατόριο που όπως μάθαμε είναι από το 2014.
