Together with my wife during our stay in Rhodes we visited Empona's view 2 times during lunch time and the experience was very different both times. 1st time we were greeted by the waitress, she quickly took care of our orders, was polite etc. We ordered chicken skewers and a veal chop. And after eating the veal chop I confidently said that this was the best food I ate in the whole island. My wife agreed that the chicken skewers were also tasty, chicken was not dry and the salad was good. After we were done and paid, we got some complimentary Greek yoghurt with quince jam which was also very unique and tasty. We lived around an hours' drive from this restaurant and only because I loved the veal chop so much, I convinced my wife to come here again for 2nd time (by promising her to take her to wine tasting experience in the Empona village). However, the 2nd time wasn't remotely as good as the first time. 2nd time no one greeted us, it took way longer to get the menus. Wife ordered the same chicken skewers and grilled feta and I ordered lamb ribs. We didn't like the grilled feta at all, but it's not because something was wrong with it, it just wasn't for us. Other people might find it tasty. Chicken skewers were about the same as 1st time, but lamb ribs were mediocre, could've done with more spices. After we finished eating, we sat there with empty plates for about 10 minutes as no one came to collect them or bring us the check. Some local guys were chatting up the waitress who in turn, I guess, forgot that they have customers. And it wasn't busy, it was just us and that other table with the locals in the restaurant. No complimentary desert either, which we kind of expected as we got one last time (just want to stress that they absolutely DON'T have to give one and this doesn't impact my rating in any way).
So, in conclusion - the view is wonderful, the food is tasty, only the 2nd time's customer service left a bitter taste for us. If both times the service would've been as the first time, it would've...
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of visiting this tavern, and it was nothing short of delightful. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between cozy and lively — warm lighting, rustic decor, and a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk in.
The staff are genuinely kind and attentive, always ready with a smile and a recommendation. The food is outstanding: hearty portions, rich flavors, and clearly made with care. Every dish feels authentic and comforting, and the drinks selection is just as impressive — from classic ales to unique local specialties.
What truly makes this place special is the sense of community it creates. It’s not just a tavern, but a spot where laughter, good music, and great conversations naturally flow. Whether you come for a casual evening or a special gathering, it leaves you with memories you’ll want to revisit again and again.
Highly recommended — a hidden gem worth returning...
Read moreThe worst food we ever had in Greece. We ordered lemonade, received fanta lemon but its just a start. You can see the kitchen from where you sit so all of our food was microwaved, straight out of fridge. Tzatzikis were the same you can buy in supermarket. I even asked the waitress if they make it or buy it he approved that they are bought. At least he was honest. Pizza we also ordered , was frozen, but there was no mention of that in the menu. But suprisingly it was the best dish we ate here.
Its such a shame that a nice place with a really nice view serves something like this. Its a slap in the face for greek kitchen and tourists. If you want to drink fanta and enjoy the view its ok. But for gods sake dont...
