Maria Tavern — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

So, we were led here by the 4.8 rating on google. We were sourly disappointed. We ordered the grilled kalamari, the Orzo with shrimp and a Greek salad with tuna. The salad was passable for the most part, but with no seasoning whatsoever and it contained a grand total of 3 (three) olives. The Orzo tasted ok, but was clearly reheated, with the tomato sauce still edible, but starting to sour. The shrimp were reasonably sized but frozen. Then we get to the grilled kalamari…. I attach an image of it. Grilled in some sort of electric grill press and also, sadly, frozen. It also lacked any kind of seasoning, instead it was thrown from the freezer into the electric grill and direct to plate. Considering it’s the peak of summer, it was, all and all, a disappointing experience. No passion whatsoever with the food just like the staff: bland...

We were recommended to come here by our rental car provider on our trip to Tsambika beach and was not disappointed. From the car park you can smell the amazing food. We were seated in the outdoor area which is a very nice garden with a number of tables. We ordered the belly pork, lamb chop and Greek salad. The meat was fresh from the grill and I think probably the best meat I have ever tasted. The salad fresh and full of flavour. We really felt like we were looked after like family, despite us not being locals. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer as we had to leave in a hurry to return our rental car.
