Amazing place, you can park for free by the start of the stairs, then ealked up 300 steps and you reach the small chapel. Incredible views of Tsambika beach, other nearby beaches, Lindos at the horizon. The chapel is very small, with beautiful paints and candles with the shape of babies. Bring enough water, as the walking is 15 minutes, not too demanding, but still there are 300 steps and you will be sweaty when reaching the top. Be patient if you want to take the best pictures of Tsambika beach, as other tourist take 10-20 photos in the same spot to reach the perfect photo😀. It is worthy the drive and walk. Be careful when driving this road, there is a local farmer who drives as the road belongs to him and you will get the Greek warming welcome even if you drove correctly. There are 2 free parkings, be patient and keep driving for the last one, where the shop and restaurant, which were closed,...
Read moreBrilliant location. Challenging but ultimately rewarding hike up the hill. The views are fantastic and the chapel is very peaceful.
But this place left a very bad taste in our mouths. In the side chapel/prayer room is a painting of the Last Supper. Why does he have to be BLACK. And why on earth does this awful painting have to be placed here? Are black people not welcome here? What are black people to make of this? I left with a thoroughly disgusted feeling.
And I will say little of how rudely the elderly man in the shop next to the car park at the foot of the climb treated us. Sadly, I will not be back, and if I can help it, no one...
Read moreThis place was absolutely incredible. To think the monks would go all the way up there i dont even want to know how many times a day is devotion at its finest. Im not religious and even i can appreciate and respect the monastery. And then theres the VIEW!!!! Breath taking...... You MUST visit this place if you’re in Rhodos. Its very tough on the cardio, but there are benchs here and there to take a break as well as railings all the way up. There are bathrooms at the top and fresh water from The fountain to fill your bottle. I was not dresses according to the rules but the employee said nothing and let me inside. There are these fabric shawls for women to put on if need be. This is a place of worship and i would say meditation as well, so please be quiet and talk low on your way up and down just to respect...
