Mikes Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Mike's is the best "English bar" in Rhodes, "mike" is the best host you could want when on holiday,it's my fourth time in Rhodes and it's a shame I never came across this place before,we nipped in early on in our two weeks for a quick drink and instantly loved the place,the prices are good and the quality of the food is great,its like pub food back home,decent grubb at a decent price,we eventually became regulars at the place for breakfast dinner and tea even though our hotel was in afandou. It's great for sports too having been there during the euros,loads of screens,both inside and outside,pool table and other games,air hockey etc,it's that good of a place and mike and his famil are that good hosts..especially his wife and daughter,oh god do them two ladies put up with a lot 🤣,you will see for yourself 🤣,but he is that good of a host that we've booked up to go back in October again,and stay at the apartment above mike's bar this time and we can't wait. We came here first 2 days of our holiday for food and to watch football. Mike is a great guy and the other staff are good. My only gripe is they stopped taking card payments for the last 5 days of out holiday stating is was a Internet issue in the area. The supermarket 20 yards away still taking card payments so to the bakery and Alabama bar round the corner. My opinion is from may 1st 2024 it was made the law that all businesses had to have card machines. Looking from the outside for me it was a clear that it was an attempt to con the government out of the taxes what they pay on all card transactions and the bank or service provider payments. We wanted to eat a little something from the menu. We asked for vegan options or at least vegetarian and the waitor had no idea. We ended up ordering the vegetarian meze and 30mins later we received a platter with 2 sauses, 1 cheese, a bit of pitta bread and a selection of 4 different sausages, salami and gyros! We asked to return this platter and reordered the meze, only for the waitor to return with the same platter with the meat options removed and the option to have it for half the price. We felt sad for the place and the extremely polite waitor. This could have been so much better, but it's so mismanaged that we left laughing at the end of the night - such a bizarre...
