Went to Spitiki Gonia this evening based on the excellent reviews it had. Sadly my experience was not as good as other reviewer's. I arrived just after 7.00 on Saturday evening, and was seated within a few minutes. The restaurant was fairly busy, and there was only one waitress serving. Because of this, it took nearly 30 minutes before she was able to take my order, cheese saganaki for my starter, and moussaka for my main course. I asked if the moussaka came with anything and was told no, so I also ordered a Greek salad to go with the moussaka. I was beginning to give up all hope of getting any food, when, after another 30-40 minutes my starter arrived, along with the Greek salad. I had only had a few mouthfuls of my starter when the moussaka also arrived. I had to eat the saganaki as quickly as possible so that the moussaka did not get too cold. The moussaka also came with a reasonably sized salad accompaniment, so I had actually not needed to order the Greek salad. The food was quite tasty, and I'm glad that I like salad, but the whole experience left a lot to be desired. An older gentleman came round and asked how my meal was, and I explained that unfortunately everything came at once, which is definitely not what I would have expected, or chosen. He either wasn't interested in my comment, or his understanding of English suddenly evaporated, as he simply be walked away.
Sadly I will not be going back there again, but many of the restaurant visitors that evening had obviously eaten there on more than one occasion so they must have had a better experience than I did.
4* for the food but -2* for the...
Read moreWorst service ever experienced. We walked a long distance just to get here as we sa a rare high rating at Google (4,9), but the expreience was the worst we ever had on a restaurant. Waitress was rude from the second we sat down. First we shared some garlic bread that was served in 3 pieces on a wooden plate. As we were to persons we felt the need to cut one peace in half to share equally and we did not get plates and cutlery so we asked polite for some plates and knifes, the older lady asked sarcasticly if we really needed this for a starter, and when we confirmed with a «yes» she just left us without even replying. She also avoided us on purpose on several occations. She served us throughout the visit without saying a word, even when we said the food was good, trying to be nice. At the end we was served a free dessert to our big surprice, probably a standard, but still without saying a word. Would never come back here. The food was decent, with good service it would be a...
Read moreOne of the best places to eat regularly in Faliraki. Highly recommend. It's a restaurant sligthly further from the main, touristic road, so the prices are a bit lower. The food is of the highest quality. My girlfriend and I were here a few times during our two-week stay and we were always very satisfied. If you're lucky, you can meet an elderly man (supposedly the owner of the place) walking from table to table and asking the guests about their opinions about the food. It seems that he wants to personally take care about the quality of everything. Also, after ordering the check, you usually get a small piece of cake. And those cakes are simply delicious! I would willingly order the full version, if they were on the menu. The staff is also friendly and helpful. To sum up, great place if you don't have dinners at your hotel and look for a regular and affordable place to eat in...
