O Mponiatis — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

We tried this pita just before getting our flight back. I wish we knew about this place earlier. This area of the island is a lot less touristy than all the other towns therefore allowing for cheaper but tastier food options.

O Boniatis serves the usual selection of Greek ‘souvlakeria’ style meats and dishes. As we only made a quick stop we just had a Pita Souvlaki (pork). You can taste that this place cares about the meats and it isn’t just a fast-food touristy joint.

Considering they sell meat by the kilo, it’s evident that for them the main objective is to have good quality and excellent tasting meat. The souvlaki was just that. Succulent, moist and tastier than any other meat I had from this style of tavern. The pita only cost €3, which for rodos island was the cheapest we found. The bread was well toasted, something not always common and the staff were friendly.

I love that the menu and outer signs were all completely in Greek, no English or German translations. Always...

The staff are extremely friendly, fast and efficient. The prices are very honest. The portions are generous. The food is made with love and tastes amazing. Easy to find. Easy to get a parking spot. Plenty of seating. Stays cool in the Summer. Great atmosphere. Friendly local cats 🐈

I was transiting from Germany to Athens and had 4 hours stay in Rhodos. Very spontaneously I decided to go here to have late night dinner. The whole team is very friendly and the food is fresh and good. You might need a translator as they don't speak that good English. The owner is also very friendly and humble. He actually found out that I will walk back to the Airport and dropped me with his car there. The cat was cute and they are always hungry 😅 even if they get enough food from customers.
