It’s a shame, the food was ok, but their practices aren’t and the service was worse. After ordering a bottle of wine they brought it to the table, opened it, and just put it in the chiller. No offer to pour or taste it like any other restaurant in the world. Unfortunately the wine was bad but they claimed it was fine. Having had this wine and having several bottles at home along with wine and culinary studies the wine it wasn’t. They agreed to take it back and we ordered another bottle and brought the second bottle same thing, just threw on the table and left. Unfortunately they charged still for the rancid wine and refused to take it off. I paid and asked for the wine back out of principle and took it and threw it in the trash down the street. It’s a shame because the food was great but if you want to pretend to be an upscale restaurant you really need to follow upscale practices or study a bit on how to properly serve wine by the bottle.
I don’t recommend this place because of the terrible service. I bet their Greek customers don’t get this service and eventually it will catch...
Read moreI have been coming to Sifnos for 14 years. Great island and I Liked this place but … this is the first time that I have ever encountered a restaurant in Greece will you ask for some extra olive oil or vinegar for your salad and they charge you for it - I probably should’ve checked the menu better but I was stunned that the sparkling mineral water was 6 1/2 euros but beer was less … plus every meal that I’ve had in Greece has always ended with a complementary sweet, small or big but not here this time.
I’d pass and head up to cafe mosaic in Artemonas , or try the smaller place just -15 m away from drakakis. That said the food was pretty good - but zucchini fritters were uncooked inside and didn’t charge us after I mentioned that -the salad however it was a bit bland and definitely needed oil and vinegar and this is when you get hit with the charge for the extra oil and vinegar although it’s not a very large charge only one euro each but still I suppose as a business, it all adds up to profit.
I used to love coming to this place but for me, it’s now...
Read moreMining for restaurants in Sifnos can be tricky, but as epicurean quarry goes, Drakakis is the mother lode. The courgette patties to open is a very wise way to crack the evening off - if you're hungry, order two rather than share, as they are light as a feather and the combination of flavours are just beautiful. I went for their take on souvlaki chicken with mustard grain sauce and artichokes. Fantastic. The brunette went with the pork belly in the lightest mash. Divine. Not too salty - just bang on. All washed down with a very fine dry white from an exceptional list of Greek DOCs (mainland and islands). Note: Drakakis does not take reservations - so to all those aimless French folks ambling mindlessly about and accidentally taking a fancy to the full tables out on the narrow alley - there's a bar at the back where you can happily wait your turn - usually no longer than 15 minutes. Good things come to those who wait. Expect to pay around €90.00 for two for 2 starters and 2 mains with a bottle of wine & tip for wonderful, friendly service. 7th...
