Update: Dear Sir / Madam. I’m not willing to accept any accusations of misinformation. Your answer says a lot about you! There is only one explanation for your response. Either we were fooled by the employee or you don’t know your own practices. Also it seems you are the only one who has “costs” with the curtains. No other beach on Sithonia has this policy. I repeat: NO OTHER! If your solution to avoid costs is to let the customer sit in the sun, then let me tell you that this business model is really unusual (to be diplomatic). In the end, I will tell you this: I don’t want to say that one can not enjoy a nice day at your place. The place is nice. But for us (we let hundreds of euro there and never ever got even the smallest discount - just a side note) the new rules and team is a huge disappointment. It is your place, do whatever you want. PS: the curtains can be made dirty even if they are closed, at least this should be clear for you. Update end.
Baracuda was one of my favorite beach bar, the “secret” special place to go for a relaxing day at the beach. But not anymore. Something happened from 2021. There is a mandatory 20 euro just for the umbrellas. You get nothing for this money. You pay! I said “ok”. I choose a “bed”, a comfortable place to spend some hours and spend around 150 euro. Then, just wow! I saw that the side curtains are blocked with plastic clips. “You are not allowed to open the curtains”, the lady said. What? I pay 20 euro for nothing to stay in the sun? “House rule”. Well; I know Sithonia and never ever have I heard about such a stupidity. The prices and the service… I rather say nothing about them in respect for what Baracuda was! Such a...
Read moreBeware – a dishonest waiter who tricks people in an extremely rude way. Before entering the beach bar, a child asked about the price of a frappe, since there were no prices displayed anywhere. The answer was €5, which seemed fine. Once we went inside, a waiter brought us a menu showing the price was €5. Prices were still not posted anywhere else. He brought us three frappes and a bill for €15. Then he changed his mind and claimed that this wasn’t our bill, and that ours was actually €16.5. When we asked why the menu and the original bill both showed the same price, yet he was now asking for more, he first pretended not to understand, then came up with a ridiculous excuse — that the price had increased in the meantime?! To top it off, he took away the previous bill and left. I didn’t want to make a scene over €1.5, but because of that, he didn’t get the tip he would have received if everything had been fair — and instead, he got this review. It was the younger waiter, with a squeaky voice and a short beard, just so it’s clear who I’m talking about.
After the owner's response, I need to update my review and correct the mistake I made. I admit, it wasn't a frappe—it was a milkshake. I don’t drink those, the kids do. I’m a bit older, to me it all seems the same... They just told me they had ordered two of Milkshake No. 2 and one of Milkshake No. 4. Are you sure that’s not part of your offering? And as for the displayed prices—since when is a QR code enough to replace a proper price list in Greece? Is it enough in Greece to simply say, "Prices have changed, the receipt we gave you is no longer valid"? Honestly... as the owner goes, so...
Read moreI honestly expected much better service, especially after reading so many positive reviews.
Yesterday, we visited the bar, but since there were no available sunbeds in the first row, we were offered the option to make a reservation for the following day — which we accepted. The next day, we arrived around 12:00, and after waiting for a few minutes, we were told that the issue was the time of our arrival (something that had never been mentioned to us before — no one told us there was a specific time by which we needed to arrive) and that there were no available spots in the first row. The only option offered was the second row.
It’s important to note that we had walked 20 minutes with a 2-year-old child, and the first row was essential for us — both to avoid disturbing other guests and to make it easier for the child to play on the beach. This was, in fact, the main reason we made the reservation.
For a place with such a good reputation, this was disappointing. At the very least, guests making reservations should be clearly informed about arrival times. Failing to do so and then not honoring the reservation feels unprofessional. Perhaps one bad review might not mean much to you, but for us as guests, it certainly does.
A real disappointment — a shame I had such high...
