Petra Bay — Restaurant in Municipality of Sitia

Nice restaurant with a view of the water and kind staff. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the food.

We ordered the cheesy garlic bread but it seemed like not much effort was put into it. The bread had way too much cheese. When we lifted the cheese up you could see a square of garlic butter that hadn't been melted. The dish would have been better if the bread and butter was toasted together first. Then add the cheese and broil the top so everything is crispy and melted!

We also ordered the zucchini dumplings. We were confused because they are actually fritters and not dumplings. These were super oily and burnt tasting. We only ate 1 of these.

The octopus that I had was a large portion but I wasn't a fan of the lemon sauce. I thought there was too much lemon sauce which then overpowered everything I was tasting. The sauce also made my rice really watery.

My boyfriend ordered the stuffed hamburger and disliked it. The meat had zero flavoring and the stuffed ingredients were not cooked prior to being added to the burger. The bacon inside was soft and almost soggy. Some areas of the burger were also burnt.

Overall we were not happy with anything that we ordered here and felt like this was our first disappointing...

Petra Bay: A Major Disappointment

Our experience at Petra Bay was nothing short of a disaster from start to finish. When we arrived, there was no host to greet us. We had to seat ourselves and hunt down our own menus. Despite there being only two other occupied tables, it took a full 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge our presence.

Ordering the food was just the beginning of our ordeal. After waiting a staggering 40 minutes, we were served a meal that was downright inedible. My chicken was dry and the fries were undercooked. To make matters worse, my wife ordered squid but was served calamari instead.

As if that wasn't enough, getting the check was another exercise in patience. We waited another 20 minutes just to pay and leave.

With plenty of high-end restaurants in the same neighborhood, I strongly advise against wasting your time and money at Petra Bay. Save yourself the disappointment and potential...

Πήγαμε εκεί βράδυ Δευτέρας 21/08 6 άτομα. Παραγγείλαμε σαλάτα Caesar στην οποία βρέθηκε ένα μικρό σαλιγκάρι χωρίς κέλυφος , να περπατάει στο πιάτο ενός από την παρέα, ζωντανό. Ζητήσαμε αλλαγή γρήγορα. Όλα τα υπόλοιπα (μπιφτέκια γεμιστά & σνίτσελ χοιρινό αλά κρεμ ήταν αρκετά μέτρια.) Μας κέρασαν την σαλάτα κ τις ρακές για το γεγονός με το σαλιγκάρι, επομένως σε γενικές γραμμές, φύγαμε σχετικά ικανοποιημένοι με μια αίσθηση απογοήτευσης. Την επόμενη μέρα το μεσημέρι 22/08, είπαμε να τους δώσουμε μια ευκαιρία ακόμα, μιας και θεωρήσαμε ότι ήταν ένα άτυχο γεγονός και ότι είχαν μια κακή βραδιά χθες. 4 άτομα παρέα αυτήν την φορά, παραγγέλνουμε 3 μακαρονάδες & 1 μουσακά, εκ των οποίων η μία στον φούρνο και οι άλλες δύο στο τηγάνι, κανονικές. Καρμπονάρες υποτίθεται. Χωρίς υπερβολή, ήταν άθλιες. Και οι 3. Τίγκα στο αλάτι, χωρίς ίχνος κρέμας, στεγνές, με τα μακαρόνια παραβρασμένα, να κολλάνε μεταξύ τους στο πιάτο λες και τα είχαν βράσει μέρες (δεν θέλω να ξέρω πόσες) και γενικότερα η εικόνα όσο και η γεύση των πιάτων απογοητευτική. Εγώ πήρα την πρωτοβουλία και είπα στο παιδί που μας εξυπηρέτησε (γιατί όντως ήταν ένα παιδί γύρω στα 12) λέγοντας του πως δεν τρώγονται οι μακαρονάδες από την πολύ ποσότητα αλατιού και να ενημερώσει τους υπεύθυνους στην κουζίνα να προσέχουν με το αλάτι. Δεν ζήτησαν ποτέ συγγνώμη για το γεγονός αλλά ίσα-ίσα όταν του ανέφερα του πιτσιρίκου και για τις υπόλοιπες αστοχίες, η απάντησα που έλαβα ήταν: «εμάς έτσι μας αρέσει όπως και στον κόσμο που τρώει». Μάλιστα. Δεν ξανά έχει σίγουρα άλλη ευκαιρία και ο λόγος που γράψω αυτήν την κριτική είναι μπας και την δουν και σοβαρευτούν λιγάκι γιατί αυτή η φιλοσοφία που «κουβαλάνε» και στην κουζίνα και στο σέρβις, είναι ξεκάθαρα μη επαγγελματική αλλά ακόμη περισσότερο προσβλητική προς τον κόσμο και τους πελάτες που πληρώνουν για να φάνε ΦΑΓΗΤΟ και όχι σκουπίδια. Προσωπικά είμαι μάγειρας 5 χρόνια με πτυχίο και έχω εργαστεί και Ελλάδα και εξωτερικό, οπότε η άποψη μου βασίζεται πολύ στην ποιότητα και στην εξυπηρέτηση, που δυστυχώς κανένας...
