We absolutely love Exipiretisis, their staff, their meal, their service. This is our third time in Makrigialos and we are using their sun umbrellas (which are free, if you order something to drink or eat) we can say every day from our first visit here, which makes it feel like home already. Prices are reasonable, portions are big enough, watermelon after meal is complimentary. My mom especially love tuna salad, which is perfectly flavoured. We also had fried saganaki, sardines, souvlaki, pizza and many more and I can say that everything we had was really good. Stefanos (the owner) is a really nice guy and absolutely good cook, who'll always welcomes you with a big smile. His girlfriend, who's in charge of orders, is very lovely, always patient and willing to help you. Just be ready to also have some cash with you. They do accept cards, but some cards block the card machine and then it's not possible to use it for a while. Also, there is a free public parking right next to them, which is really convenient if you want to stop by for a meal on your way to somewhere. Overall, we absolutely recommend their taverna to have a drink or something to eat. I believe, that you won't be disappointed. We will be back again...
Read moreDon't pass up on this Gem! 💕 We had the absolute best experience at Taverna Exipiretisis—so good we drove 45 minutes and came back three times in one week! The service was next level, truly unbelievable. Yanna took incredible care of us every single time, making sure I always had a delicious vegan option. On our second visit, she went above and beyond, creating a special vegan Moussaka with Soy TVP and a soy-based béchamel—perfectly spiced and full of flavour.
The food, vegan and non-vegan, overall was fresh, tasty, and made with love. Add to that the stunning beach views—literally right on the sand with beach chairs available. The sand was clean and soft, and the water was crystal clear and calm. Family-run and full of heart, this was hands down the best dining experience we've had in Crete. Can’t wait to...
Read moreHighly recommended. We ate here almost every lunchtime on our last two visits to Makry Gialos. If you eat or drink at the taverna, you can use the sunbeds for no fee. Really nice friendly service and good food, you see them delivering the fresh fruit and veg and the catch of the day. In the photos I'm attaching their fish soup: it's not a regular on their menu but they often do homemade specials which it's worth asking about. The grilled prawns are really nice too. Otherwise I often enjoyed the fish, the beef stew (stifado) or even just fries dipped in tastsiki with greek salad. And the rosé wine! Hope to...
