Unforgettable Beetroot Delight at Limnoupula Tavern
If I could give more than five stars, I undoubtedly would! My recent visit to Limnoupula Tavern served me a delightful culinary surprise that I find necessary to share with fellow food enthusiasts - a fantastic boiled beetroot dish that left an indelible impression on my taste buds.
Hidden away from the busy city life, Limnoupula Tavern offers not just a meal, but an unforgettable gastronomic journey. The star of my experience was undoubtedly their signature dish, the perfectly boiled beetroot. The beets are evidently sourced locally and you can taste the freshness in every bite. The earthiness of the beetroot was beautifully balanced with a slight sweetness, and the texture was spot-on – tender, but not too soft, maintaining a satisfying bite that made the experience all the more enjoyable.
The genius lies in the simplicity of this dish. A dash of olive oil, a sprinkle of sea salt, and a hint of fresh herbs were all that was added, allowing the natural flavors of the beetroot to shine through. This dish is a clear testament to the quality of the ingredients used at Limnoupula Tavern and their commitment to respecting those ingredients in their most authentic form.
The warm and cozy atmosphere of the tavern enhances the dining experience, with friendly and knowledgeable staff making you feel at home. Each bite of the beetroot seemed to tell a story of tradition and passion for the food they serve.
I cannot recommend Limnoupula Tavern enough, especially for their boiled beetroot. It's a seemingly simple dish, but executed to perfection, that it becomes a memorable gastronomic experience. This is a place where quality ingredients, excellent service, and an immersive atmosphere come together to create a truly unforgettable dining experience. The boiled beetroot at Limnoupula Tavern is a dish I will certainly...
Read moreIn this area of Corfu, many restaurants have a terrace built on the beach, with a very nice view on the sea. Limnopoula is one of them. Unfortunately, despite the beauty of the place, we had a very bad experience. When you arrive in a restaurant, it's important to be welcomed by a smile. Instead of that, the people working there are not really friendly. When we ordered, the waiter was so bored that we had to do the job for him, otherwise we wouldn't have half of the order. We always take a red house wine, and never been disappointed in Corfu... Until that night ! First, they brought us white wine instead of red... It's ok, I suppose it's because the guy was obviously drunk when we arrived... 😑 When they finally brought us red wine, it was so awful that we couldn't drink it. When we complained, the waiter told us he knows it's a very bad wine 😶, because it comes in plastic cans... 😖 A local friend told us after they have very good seafood, but unfortunately we took some traditional dishes on the grill. Well, the food was really average. Far below other restaurants we tried in Corfu... And we've been there 6 times for holidays ! After we complained so much, the waiter was trying to be more friendly... but all we wanted was to quit! If you want to go there, take the seafood dishes and a bottle of wine, you might have a better experience...
Read moreIt makes me sad to say but im very disappointed!! Regular customer past few years but last night was the end for me and my friends. Ordered few plates and only one of them came on time. I noticed that they made a mistake with our main dishes giving them to a table next to us. I didn't say anything and none of the staff cared to check on us. After 1 hour they came asking sorry and to repeat our order although they have it on electronic form (pos)!! So so unprofessional. I do understand the craziness of high season especially during a covid year but that was simply UNACCEPTABLE!! we managed to eat after 1.30 hours. I tried to hard to make them understand that this is not the way to treat your customers and the quick answer was to treat us the 3 beers we got. Food was alright nothing special. But when the check came, guess what? They didn't even do what they proposed. Funny and unprofessional. So as a well traveled person and a local at the same time i would suggest you avoid it and explore other more authentic...
