Fantastic seafood!
My partner and I came here on a recommendation from the Greek lady who we hired a boat from on Aeolos Beach.
We took the boat out for a few hours and made our way down from Aeolos Beach (Perama) down to Petriti. We Moored up in a wooden jetty that is free for public use.
The town is beautiful and has crystal clear blue water with plenty of sealife. You can see all sorts of wonderful fish including crabs, shrimps and an abundance of hermit crabs.
The Taverna is right next to the Jetty and has a good sized out side seating area that’s under cover. This is a family run business and the two ladies we spoke to we’re both pleasant.
Unfortunately we didn’t have enough cash on us to buy a lot of food, we thought there would be an ATM in the town but there isn’t. They don’t take card so make sure you take cash with you. The catch of the day was red snapper, I was very disappointed not to have enough money for this. (I only had €13 euros on me).
We opted for Shrimp Saganaki. This took about 30 minutes too cook as it was cooked from scratch. We were given plenty of bread to have with the saganaki.
The saganaki tasted great. The prawns and shrimps were sweet and succulent. The feta cheese was soft and gooey and the onions/garlic were perfectly soften. This was quite a large dish and plenty for the two of us to share.
The old lady who cooked the meal came out to see if we had enjoyed the food.
The location was fantastic, we sat by the edge of the water watching the fish. There was a man paddle boarding with his dog and fisherman coming in on their boats.
This doesn’t look like anything special from outside. I would have chosen a different tavern based on the look of it, but we ate here because of the recommendation and we weren’t...
Read moreWe went to this taverna today for dinner, first of all it's worth mentioning that it's a family business. As soon as we sat down at the table, we were "greeted" by the lady with a unwelcoming "why do you want?", no menus or anything just that. After asking what was the fresh fish of the day, she showed us the fish in the fridge and since it's next to the kitchen there were at least a dozen flies flying around and loads of dirty dishes everywhere, this made us feel really bad. However since this taverna was suggested to us, we still tried it. The plates were very poor, only the fish were served, no salad or anything else on the plate. The fish was average nothing special at all and not up to the Greek standards. We ended up spending 45€ which is average for squids, two extra tu a salads and two pints, however overpriced for what was really on the plate.
I highly suggest to go to other tavernas, this one is not on tripadvisor mainly to avoid...
Read moreThis is the oldest fish taverna in Petriti, and Yiannis continues his family tradition of serving honest-to-goodness fresh seafood that the fishermen bring into the port every day. They specialize in doing fish (no gyros etc), nothing more, nothing less. Their daily plate depends on the catch of the day, so you will not be offered a big menu of dishes with the usual range of dishes from calamari to souvlaki to stifado etc etc. Instead, you will be offered what is fresh for the day, and you sit back and let Yiannis and his sister to the rest. The seafood is absolutely delectable. Plus, Yiannis is a joy of a host, and the ambience by the...
