Dusk grill & more — Restaurant in Municipality of Syros and Ermoupoli

Αντί για φαγητό πήγαμε να φάμε ξύλο από τον ιδιοκτήτη . Κάθομαι με την κοπέλα μου στο μαγαζί . Μετά από ώρα έρχεται η σερβιτόρα και τη ρωτάμε αν μπορούμε να κάτσουμε στη παραλία και μας ενημερώνει ότι είναι γεμάτα οπότε και αποφασίσαμε να κάτσουμε στο μαγαζί . Ξεκινάμε να παραγγείλουμε και της λέμε θέλουμε ένα club sandwich και μια πίτσα . Μας λέει η κοπέλα ότι δεν πρόλαβε να μας ενημερώσει και ότι Σάββατο και Κυριακή δεν φτιάχνουν burger , club sandwich, pizza λόγω φόρτου εργασίας . Οπότε και παραγγείλαμε κάτι άλλο . Μας φέρνει κρασί και τη κόκα κόλα και περιμένουμε τα φαγητά . Οσο περίμενα με ρωτάει η κοπέλα μου και της λέω ναι . Μετά ξανά περνάει και λέω μισό να πάω να ρωτήσω . Μπαίνω μέσα βρίσκω ένα παιδί τον ρωτάω μπορώ να παραγγείλω club sandwich και μου λέει ναι . Και του απαντάω ότι κοπέλα που μας πήρε τη παραγγελία μας είπε ότι δεν φτιάχνετε.Το παιδί προφανώς απάντησε ότι δεν ξέρω εγώ καφέδες φτιάχνω . Βρίσκω μια κοπέλα στο ταμείο και την ρωτάω και αυτή αν μπορώ να παραγγείλω club sandwich και μου λέει ναι (εκείνη τη στιγμή βλέπω να βγαζουν και πίτσα) οπότε της λέω ότι μας ενημέρωσαν ότι δεν γίνεται…. και ΞΑΦΝΙΚΑ βγαίνει το αφεντικό . Με ρωτάει τι συμβαίνει του λέω και μου απαντάει ναι εγώ της είπα να λέει έτσι . Του λέω θα μπορούσε να μας πει ότι αυτά δίνονται μόνο σε άτομα που κάθονται στη παραλία . Και μου λέει και τι θες τώρα να σταματήσω τη δουλειά να σου εξηγήσω εσένα . Οπότε και του λέω αν γίνεται να ακυρώσουμε τη παραγγελία . Μου λέει ναι μπαίνει στη κουζίνα βγαίνει και καθώς φεύγω λέει και να μην ξανά έρθεις . Πάω στο τραπέζι λέω στη κοπέλα μου ότι φεύγουμε και έρχεται εκείνη τη στιγμή η σερβιτόρα η οποία μου ζήτησε το λόγο γιατί πήγα να ρωτήσω μέσα ενώ αυτή είναι υπεύθυνη για τα τραπέζια . Πήγε να καλύψει το αφεντικό ότι εμείς δεν καταλάβαμε καλά ,μετά είπε ότι μπορεί το αφεντικό να μην κατάλαβε . Πλήρωσα τα 7 € κόκα κόλα και κρασί χωρίς να τα πιούμε βέβαια γιατί δεν προλάβαμε αλλά δεν με ένοιαζε .Τωρα αν έχει το θράσος να πει ο νταής και ζόρικος ιδιοκτήτης ότι λέω ψέματα τι να πω εδώ είχε το θράσος να μου επιτεθεί λεκτικά μπροστά στους υπαλλήλους του Instead of food we almost got into a fight with the owner. I was sitting with my girlfriend at the place. After some time the waitress came and we asked her if we could sit on the beach and she informed us that it was full, so we decided to stay at the restaurant. We started to order and told her we wanted one club sandwich and one pizza. She told us that she hadn’t managed to inform us and that on Saturdays and Sundays they don’t make burgers, club sandwiches, or pizza because of workload. So we ordered something else. She brought us the wine and the coke and we were waiting for the food.

While we were waiting, my girlfriend asked me “aren’t those club sandwiches passing by?” and I told her yes. Then again more plates passed and I said wait, let me go and ask. I went inside, found a guy and asked him if I could order a club sandwich and he said yes. I replied that the girl who took our order told us that they don’t make them. The guy obviously replied that he didn’t know, he only makes coffees. I found a girl at the cashier and asked her too if I could order a club sandwich and she also told me yes (at that moment I also saw them taking out a pizza). So I told her that we had been informed that it wasn’t possible… and SUDDENLY the boss comes out.

He asked me what was going on, I told him, and he answered yes, I told her to say that. I told him he could have said that these dishes are only for people sitting on the beach. And he told me “and what do you want now, for me to stop working to explain it to you?” So I told him if it’s possible to cancel the order. He said yes, went into the kitchen, came out, and as I was leaving he said “and don’t ever come...

The owner’s behavior was downright disgraceful. I get that the man is clearly stressed because his business isn’t doing well (and honestly, with that attitude, how could it?), but that’s no excuse to lash out at customers. We came as a family, on holiday from Cyprus to Syros, in a good mood and ready to enjoy ourselves. We sat down for coffee, and for the kids to have a club sandwich and chicken nuggets. We didn’t even sit at the tables set for dining—obviously—we sat in the lower section meant for coffee.

From the moment we walked in, he was glaring at us and whispering to the waitress. Eventually, he lost his temper, raised his voice, and we heard him telling her: “Clear everything away, don’t leave them anything, make them leave so they don’t take up the table!” Mind you, we had barely been there 40 minutes!

I later saw other reviews complaining about the exact same behavior—so clearly this is his standard way of treating people. And just to be clear, the place was empty. We weren’t keeping anyone from sitting there. Honestly… what more is...

We were recently staying nearby with a small family group. We used the subbed on the beach that are run by this restaurant, and occasionally ate brunch or lunch at the restaurant as well. Staff were polite, cheerful and helpful. Good simple but very nice and the portions were huge. A Greek salad was amazing, with a huge wedge of feta cheese (at least 125g of cheese!)
